Hey Suzanne! Im Carol and had surgery 9/22/03. According to my finicky scales I am down 42lbs. Married, housewife with 2 great kids and a big ole sweetheart of a hubby. Feel free to email me anytime. This has been a enlightening journey to say the least hasnt it. I am to the point to where my scales dont move, I am constipated and my back kills me but hey I am smiling cause I know the 42 wont come back! It is hard to not get frustrated and depressed but I try to keep in mind that without this surgery I wouldnt even feel this good! I think the hardest thing for me is to make myself eat and drink and walk. If I dont stay on myself I will go all day without doing any of the three (and I wonder why my scales dont move!) So far what has been your motivation? When you arent hungry how do you make yourself eat and drink? Email anytime and big hugs!!!!!

Topic: New here
Hi all,
I am new here. I had Lap RNY on 9/8/03. I am about 9 weeks post op and have lost 57 pounds. I feel better than I have in a whole long time! I am from Hummelstown, PA, 37 year old divorced mother of 3 wonderfully bratty children! LOL
I just wanted to introduce myself and hopefully make some friends who are at the same place with this procedure as I am!
Take care,
Suzy
Topic: RE: back pain
Donna, like you I had my surgery sept. 22. My back pain is horrible right now. I tried to say it was from moving into our new home but I am beginning to wonder. It is in the middle of my back also and around my ribs. Coincedence or just something for this time in our wls?

Hi, Rhonda, I'm also 6 weeks out and visited my dr. last week. He added things to my diet last week (fruits, veggies, soft meats), even though some don't agree with me yet. I think by 6 weeks you can start to experiment with new solid foods (preferrably close to home in case they don't agree with you) and find out what works for you. I have stocked up on shrimp since meats aren't totally agreeing yet and I need the protein and it doesn't hurt that I love shrimp! Good luck on the rest of your journey!

I am six weeks out and I have lost 33 pounds. I am not sure if I am eating right. I eat low fat cottage cheese, fat free cheese, soup, I have toasted some bread and I cut into half and then half again, so I have four corners. I take one peice and put Tuna fish on it and eat that and that really feels me up.I eat mash pototes. I dont know if I am eating right for my 6th week. I also made some chilli with Extra Extra lean meet. So far I have not had trouble with anyting I eat. Is this okay? I have not tried any sugar and I dont want to. I just dont know if I am eating right. Can someone please give me some advice?

Hello...Iam 5 weeks post op,yesterday.I have lost 55 pounds,to date.Iam still on the soft foods.Iam like you very sick of mashed potatoes, jello, chicken noodle soup. Its funny ..Ive found that I love just the soup part of a bland pot of chili...Just the tomato juice and maybe 3 beans,,its goes down very well for me.I can eat about a tablespoon at a time.I find my self drinking water or weak deacaf. iced tea.I too would l ove some good food advise.Iam still counting calories and fat grams,as I have so much to loose.Best wishes for continued weight loss sucess, and overhaul good health...Post often....Nee Nee K
Topic: back pain
I am 5 weeks post op as of tomorrow and haven't had a single problem (well aside from the constipation that is). But last week I started having really back pain aches everyday starting about 2-3 pm in my mid back on each side of my spine.
I had back problems before the surgery but not this often, what could cause this? It gets really painful sometimes.
Thanks for any insite. Otherwise I'm doing fabulous.
Donna

Topic: RE: Anybody go to BTC
Hi Judie, I went to the BTC in Wylie TX. I also thought they were great. I can eat anything except beef. I eat a lot of chicken, ground turkey, and fish. I really don't miss the beef. I also have trained myself when I think I am going to take my last bite put my fork or spoon down and don't eat it. I have only eaten this last bite twice and was sick both times. So far I have lost 63 pounds since 6/5/2003. I feel so much better. Keep up the good work as it is worth it. Susan Stone
