My only suggestion to you would be to cut down on the carbs (mashed potatoes, bread, etc.). I'm at the stage now where if I don't eat mostly meat, I won't get enough protein. I'm saving the high-carb foods for later on, like 6 months from now, after I've lost most of what I want to lose. I've found that the less carbs I eat, the less I crave them. Just a suggestion. I just recently heard about this board, and I think it's great, as we are all close to the same time post-surgery. Mine was Sept. 17th and I have lost 46#. Maybe as more people hear about it, it will be more active. I'm still hitting the protein really hard, drink a protein shake every morning (but am already tired of them---have tried several). How many of you have started weight training? I use the elliptical cross-trainer at the gym for an hour, and have just started using some of the Nautilus-type machines at low weights and many repetitions. Let's keep sharing on this board --- I like it! Connie open rny 9/17/03 293/247/170

Topic: RE: Protein Powder
Well...here's my bright idea......not everyone uses the protein powder....I have a friend who is well on her way, after 70 pounds and more, and she hasn't used any powder. But, then on the other hand...my weight loss has slowed down some after 7 weeks....and I haven't had any powder for 2 weeks.....my doctor swears by it....so.....go figure.......he says I would be feeling better if I used more powder........I do have the GNC brand....chocolate, I make a shake when I have it at all. A blender is a must.......Congrats on your great weight loss....I had mine on 9/18 in Cincinnati and I've lost around 42 also...Let me hear from you.....Barb [email protected]

Hi Suzanne, I'm Denise. I had my surgery on 9/23 (7 weeks post op today) and down about 42 lbs. I live in Ypsilanti, MI, 49 years old in a couple weeks, the mother of 3 wonderfully bratty children, 28, 22 & 21 and 2 wonderfully wonderful grandchildren. Happily married for 29 years. I'd love to keep in tough with you! :D

Please pass this site on. It will tear you heart out knowing that this child might die without the help she deserves and needs. If there is anything any of you can do please do so. At the very least, keep her in your prayers! http://www.chelseaschance.com/
