I had my surgery Sept. 17/03 and I am down 46 pounds, so I guess that is slow. Bit I still feel good about my loss. I know I will lose more, it will just take longer.

Hi Reeda, we had surgery on the same day. I weighed 227 pre-op, I have only lost 50 lbs. so far. I was getting sick for awhile, that seemed to slow the weight loss down a lot. I read on someone's profile that they drink a lot of water before they eat, it has helped me. I am able to eat without getting sick. I know we need to eat to fuel our bodies, so we can burn the fat. So make sure you are eating and drinking enough water. I think a 60 lb. loss is fantastic. Keep up the good work.

I have a hard enough time trying to get used to the way I look at 65 pounds down! It may be slow, but I'll take it!

Hello fellow September post ops!!!! I didn't know about this board either, my goodness! I had Lap RNY on 9/26/03 and have lost 65 pounds so far. Started out at 358 pounds and now weigh 293 at 5 feet ten inches. My energy has gone through the roof, and cannot wait to lose more! For the most part, I eat basic meat(usually rib eye steak cut into tiny pieces, stir fried with onions, peppers, and mushrooms) and veggies, with some occasional carbs in there. But right now, I am having a bit of a problem with snacking at work. It is the down part of the semester, and there isn't alot of work to do, so when I get bored......*sigh* But I bought some jerky today and am chewing away happily right now! LOL I hope everyone is staying warm today! Bye for now *wave*

Reeda ! I'm a slow loser too ! It really didn't bother me until I saw people losing 100 or more pounds in tha same amount of time. I hope I'm not sabotaging my success. Since reading your E-Mail I've checked a dozen other profiles, and it seems that our rate of loss is equally acceptable. I started at 287 and am down 55 pounds from surgery on September 22, 2003. I also have plateaus where my scale doesn't move for a week or two, but you know what... we will make our goal, maybe a few weeks later than others, and maybe a few weeks earlier than others. We are all Losers! Suzanne

Wow ! Both of you have lost at least 100 pounds ! Both of my kids together don't weigh 100 pounds. I'm definately doing something wrong... only down 55 from 9/22/03 surgery. Hmmm... Suzanne

You guys are doing great ! I had my surgury on September 22, 2003 and am down 55 pounds. I'm 5'6" and started at 287 (my scale at home said 292). I'm grateful for the 55 pounds but everyone else seems to be losing faster than me. I have to wonder sometimes if I'm doing something wrong. Would either of you be willing to share what you eat in a typical day? My diet doesn't have much variety. Thanks, Suzanne

Hi everyone, I didnt know this board existed till this morning either. I have gone through the September surgery dates numerous times looking for others weight loss success, looking for some encouragment... it gets very discouraging as alot of folks do not update their profiles. I am down 60 pounds but wi**** were more. I started above 300 but the scale goes for weeks without moving. I have increased my exersize and water intake, any other ideas to speed up losses? I also have recently started the hair loss process, any ideas to slow that down? Hope everyone has a happy, healthy new year!!

I had surgery 9/16/03 and I saw my surgeon 12/22 and he said that he was concerned that I had only loss 80 lb. in three months, but only 16 lb. in the last two months. Although, I am no lightweight. Where did the anticipated weight loss schedule come from? According to the weight loss calculator on this site, I am not on target. I don't know what to think. Some of us lose faster than other and that's all to it. Be patient and get that exercise going. You could try uping the protein to two shakes a day. This is what I was told. Please, don't forget about the H2O.
