Hi, JulieAnn -
Not to worry! I am 8 months post-op, and have lost just 80 pounds. By most measures, I've been "doing it wrong" all along (carbs sneak in on a regular basis).
But I'm seeing this as a lifelong change, not as a race with other WLS'ers. The most important thing that the surgery has done for me is to help me make a permanent change in my eating habits (I actually only eat when hungry, not to medicate for stress, lonliness, etc), and more importantly, in my relationship with food - it no longer rules my life.
So if it's 10 pounds a month and it takes a while longer for me to reach goal than some others, I say SO WHAT? What's a few months one way or the other when we are talking about a LIFETIME?
Relax, love yourself, praise yourself for your success, and above all, forgive yourself for not "doing it right." You are clearly committed to sucess, and you will find it. Enloy the journey!

First of all...Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's out there
Today is my 8 month anniversary and I am pleased to say I am now down to 195 pounds...that is a 128 pound lost

I was on a plateau for about 3 weeks this month..but, I am now over it
I started keeping a journal of everything I eat and drink and it has really helped. I get my protein and my 64oz in every day...and I finally started exercising again
And I have lost a total of 80 inches from my body..I am really happy that I had this surgery and plan on using my new tool for a long, long time
.

Topic: I Thought Losing Weight Was Enough!!!
Hi Everyone:
It's been 33 weeks since my surgery and to say the least it's been an amazing ride. The dedication to following the basic tennets of Protein, Water and Exercise has resulted in a 166 pound weight loss.
I'm feeling better than ever and not to toot my own horn, I look great too. I know to some that losing 166 pounds in a little less than 8 months may not make for a compelling story but in my eyes, after years of lack of success in dieting, this is an amazing story. Going from 373 pounds to 207 pounds should be worth celebrating whether or not you do something like jump out of planes or run marathons. Just having a healthier life free of medication and pain should warrant celebration.
Till next time,
Jesse

Topic: Anyone else having bowel problems all of a sudden?
Hi everyone! I had my WLS 9/4/03 and have not had any problems up to this point. I have lost about 120 pounds and feel great but all of a sudden I cant seem to go to the bathroom enough. Not a nice subject I know, sorry. I usually go every 3 days or so, for the past 3-4 weeks I have been having terrible pains in my abdomen, left sided about midway. My surgeon and PCP both feel it is my colon causing the pain, possibly from not moving my bowels enough, everything is backing up. I have been taking fiber tabs, drinking prune juice and usuing MOM without alot of success. I had a CT scan done yesterday, still awaiting results to be sure that there isnt a partial blockage or adhesions involved. Anyone else having trouble or does anyone have other ideas to keep things moving? I read the post almost everyday, you are all doing great!!! Keep up the great progress!!!
