Topic: Why Does He Keep Looking For Something To Go Wrong
Hi Everyone: I know it's not Friday yet but this just couldn't wait. I had to take my wife Joanna to our PCP today at his request because she was taking too much of one of her medications. When we arrived he spoke to her for about 30 seconds then proceeded to give me a complete examination. Granted his wife had just seen me on May 1. I was OK but since he was the one I had to fight to get my letter for insurance approval (because he doesn't believe in the surgery), he tries to find something wrong with me every chance he gets. The results of his exam which I did not want. BP - 120/80 EKG - NORMAL All Blood work including B-6, B-12, Clolesterol and Iron-NORMAL He even scheduled me for a eccho on May 20. Then he finally said to me after finding nothing wrong with me "maybe you should consider not losing any more weight". This comming from a man who has been telling me for years to lose weight. I know that he is waiting for something to go wrong but it is my mission in my new life to see him when scheduled and leave with him finding nothing wrong with me. I just love proving him wrong every opportunity I get. Till Friday, Jesse 373/207/-166

I must say Jennifer was right on. Just try a little and see how you feel. I can almost eat anything ... I tried salad last week for the first time ... that was the first time something did not agree with me. Everything else is great! Tina

Jennifer: Read your profile and saw your photos. You're looking pretty good yourself. It must feel great chasing down congressmen and senators and have energy left over. Keep up the great work. Jesse

Pat, of course, everyone is different, and some people might tolerate certain foods more easily than others. As an early post-op, I was warned to be careful with particularly fibrous veggies and fruits - including things such as corn and grapes, that had quite a bit of skin. But, I've had corn recently with no problems (in fact, I had some great corn on the cob just last night). And, I'm growing a variety of corn on my patio (yes, my patio) called Kandy Korn, that is supposedly ultra-sweet. I'm looking forward to trying it out, and hopefully, I'll have no problems. Even so, I've found that if I stay under 13 grams of sugar at any one time, I'm generally okay. I've had popcorn with no real problems, too, though I try not to make a habit of it. Be warned that the popcorn can tend to swell in the stomach, so if you're sensitive to that, you should be careful (you might not be able to eat nearly as much as you expect). I've also had no problems with nuts. In fact, because of their texture, I have at times found them easier to eat (because I'll chew them more thoroughly than I might a less crispy item). I visited family in Florida this weekend who were constantly -- at first -- asking, "Can you eat this?" My refrain of a reply: "I can eat anything." And, generally, aside from overly consuming sugar (I've never dumped, but I think I might, and I tend to stay under 13 grams of sugar at a time), I feel like I can eat most anything (of course in moderation). So, my experiences with these foods might not be the best indicator of how you'll do, if you have an especially sensitive stomach. Of course, these might not be the best options nutritionally speaking, but in terms of eating and enjoying them, I don't think you'd really have to worry much, unless your stomach is especially sensitive. Good luck! Jen.

Topic: Can we eat this?
I need to know if we can eat corn, sweet or on the cob, pop corn, peanuts (any kind of nuts), coconut, fruits. Also, is there anything we should absolutely stay away from. I know about Carbonated drinks and sugar, etc. I will be 8 months out on the 16th and I am down 114 pounds, but I would like to eat some of these things, but only if it won't hurt me. Thank you for your help. ~Pat~

OMG I have stared dumping...why after almost eight months I dont know but Man O Man be careful what you wish for For the last 7 months I have been able to eat anything I wanted with no problems but I've notice that for the last month I have been having little tummy aches after eating sugars..major sugars..I was eating an entire piece of what ever dessert I wanted...well last night I had a piece of carvel ice cream cake and WHAM about 10 minutes afterwards the room started spinning, I had to lie down, I was sooo nauseous and I threw up. I was very sick all night long and even today I have diarreah from Hell. I was so upset that I wasn't dumping but now I dont know which is worse..ugh

Congratulations!!!! My 8 month anniversary is on the 16th and as of right now I am down 114 pounds. The first 4 months were very rough for me, but now that I have sooooo much energy and I can do so many things, I think I did the right thing. How are you getting all of your protein? Take care and God bless you. ~Pat
