Topic: Happy Anniversary to ME!
One year ago today the transformation began! It's not as easy I thought (or hoped) but I wouldn't change a thing, except tighten that pouch a little more.
Congratulations to all the post-ops and good luck to all the pre-ops!
Topic: eating too much?????
I worry all the time that I am eating too much.
For lunch today I had 1tbs instant rice and 3/4 cup veg. For breakfast I had 1/2 cup oatmeal with 1tbs raisens. So far today Ive had 3cups of fluid coffee/water/hot tea. For supper I may have 1/2 cup romaine lettuce with 4 grape tomatos , 1oz of cheese and 2oz of some type of meat with about 1/2 cup veg.
Sometimes I can eat a cup of soup and a cup of salad at the same time.
I still have hard time with protein. Just dont handle meat. I will add cottage cheese instead of cheese to salad or add protein drink to get rest of protein in.
It takes me a while to get all of my dinner in but I have to get my protein in. Any suggestions please.
I just worry that I will gain my weight back. Does any one else have these concerns or am I worrying needlessly.
Topic: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!
Today is the one year anniversary of my WLS.
A year ago I weighed 278 pounds and was literally eating myself to death.
Today I weigh 148 pounds--A loss of 130 pounds! Who knew life could feel this good!
My weight loss has been slow, but boy do those pounds add up!
I wanted to share my happiness with the WLS community as only you can understand the emotional victory and physical freedom I am feeling right now.
As I write this I am in Europe. I have spent the last eight (8) weeks walking, climbing stairs and spending hours moving about with agility and ease. This would have been virtually impossible a year ago.
More importantly, my weight loss has given me to ability to reconcile with my family. For years I was too ashamed to let them see what I looked like.
I don't have anything profound to say at this moment. I just wanted to express my pride and pleasure with my fellow WLS community since we are all fighting the same battle. And it certainly is not an easy one.
My best wishes and continued success to all of you too!

Harriet, I do not each as much as I probably should. I drink massive amounts of water from 6 - 8 liters a day, and I never ever feel hungry and have not since the day of surgery. The water has a lot to do with that. Are you drinking enough? Many of my WLS friends that are hungry do not drink much water.

Cinday what a great weight loss! You have done brilliantly and the biggest problem many WLS post ops have is comparing themselves to others here. You are an individual and you will lose at a different rate than others. If you feel your results could be better, keep a food and exercise diary and maybe that will help. I keep the diary to track my progress and it helps me cause sometimes I have to re-tweek my eating and exercise a bit to optimize the benefits of WLS.
All the best and keep up the good work!
Topic: RE: Second Wave of Hair Loss?!?
Hi Elizabeth,
I am also at one year, 9-16-03. Just like you it started at 4-5 months, stopped for 5-6 months and were at it again !!! I think it is pretty normal. My cousin is 7 months ahead of us and she says its expected, but doesnt hit us as bad as the first time around. I take 1000mg. of Biotin a day and I use the Nioxin Protectives shampoo, which seems to help with the fullness and texture. I just started to double up on the Biotin and the hair loss is not as drastic .....
I jumped on the scales yesterday morning for the 1 year check up and am happy to announce 108 lbs have disapeared in the last 365 days, I am healthy, happy and thin ! I went from a size 22-24 to a 6-8, hair loss ??? who cares !!! thats what they make wigs for !!!
Be Happy !

Topic: One Year Down, A Lifetime To Go!!!
Hi Everyone:
This is a special post for me. One year ago on a Friday like today (the actual date is the 19th but who's counting) I had my surgery and was just waking up in the Recovery Room. The past 52 weeks has been nothing short of amazing as my weight loss journey has led me to a happier, healthier life. Although I feel that I'm just approaching the first station in the marathon that is my weight loss journey (remember it is not a sprint, it is indeed a marathon) I am overjoyed at my progress.
I began my journey at 373 pounds and I'm now maintianing at 190. I began with a 54 waist and I'm now a 34. I was taking medicines for high blood pressure and back pain, I snored so loud that my wife cound not sleep in the same room and I had no stanma what so ever. Now I'm on no perscription medications and my wife enjoys snuggling in bed because there's no snoring.
There is a lot to be thankful for and I could write forever. I do want to thank my wife for being there for me as I was learning how to eat and exercise again, my wonderful surgeon, Dr. Jordan Garrison for his talented hands and for his guidance, and of course all of you for your encouragement and support. Without you to draw strength from my success thus far would not have been possible.
I look forward to the continuation of my journey with enthusasium and purpose. One year down and a lifetime to go.
Till next time
Jesse
