Topic: RE: OMG! Is anyone else doing this?
Dear Jenny: I had WLS (lap rny) on August 1st. Dr. Rosemarie Jones was my surgeon also! I found that I had to have things in order before the surgery as well. I think it is a natural response. What a positive experience this surgery was for me! I was a lightweight, with 101 pounds to lose. I have shed 39 pounds in 7 weeks and am very happy with my progress. I am sure that you already discovered this little tidbid in the nutrition class, but WALK NOW! I got up to an hour a day prior to the surgery date and boy did it push me to the head of the class! I was released in less than 24 hours. My best advise to you is to do what Dr. Jones and the dieticians tell you. I have only vomited 3 times in 7 weeks and count myself one of the lucky ones. I pray that this journey will be a positive one for you too. Dr. Jones and her staff are incredible! If you need to chat, give me a shout! My e-mail is [email protected]. Take Care! Miss Beth

Topic: OMG! Is anyone else doing this?
OMG! Is anyone else going through this cleaning out closets, washing walls, cleaning base boards, moving furniture out & vaccuming every square inch of the floors, etc. I am doing more of cleaning now than what I would normally do for "spring cleaning". I don't know if I am just getting antsy & trying to stay occoupied or if I want to make sure everything is clean & in it's place {and I don't even know were I am getting the energy from either}. I don't know really why I am doing all this instead of my normal house clean routine. Is anyone else doing the same thing just before their surgery? My surgery is Sept. 29th { in 7 days } @ St. Vincent in Carmel, IN with Dr. Jones. I even had the kids come over for dinner & prepared this big 9 course Walton family dinner. I love to do dishes, but don't think I did all that just to clean up dirty dishes & all... LOL Oh my gosh.. I need some thoughts of yours if you have went through this? And why the heck am I doing this ... ?

Woo Hoo! My surgery is also on 9/29. I'll be having the DS procedure done at the University of Chicago hospital in Chicago, IL. I'll pray for you and you pray for me. That way, we got each other's backs! Best of luck to you on your journey. Before we know it, we will both be thinner and healthier. What a wonderful thought! Tricia Libman Bartlett, IL

Well all things considered the surgery was a success. I have a substantial amount of gas pain and some incision pain, but all in all it's all good. I don't think I was on pain killers long enough as I was a little zoned, so they took away my pump....oh well They did allow me to have a shot every 4 hours if I wanted and I didn't do it much during the day, but certainly used it at night. So far I'm not at all annoyed at the food choices, jello, broth, coffee and water. Hopefully when I move to solid foods next week I will be ok with the portions....either way I need to get fine with it. Well I will update next week, but I must say so far so good and no regrets.

My surgery is also 09/29/03 at St. Vincent at Carmel. Prayers may be free but they are the most powerful and are coming your way. Don't forget to get your liquid vitamins before surgery. My friend had stomach stapling surgery about 15 years ago and reminded me how important the liquid vitamins are to our recovery (to avoid clumps of our hair falling out). Kroger has baby food on sale until Wednesday. My daughter and I are going shopping for baby food. She needs baby food for her daughter born on 07/24/03, also my birthday. I am wondering what we should bring to wear after the surgery or will we be wearing a hospital gown while in the hospital. God Bless and plenty of prayers are coming your way. Cindy

My surgery is 09/29/03. We all share the nervousness you are experiencing. Keep in mind your future after the surgery. The thoughts of your new life can help reduce your anxiety. Think ahead to Christmas when you will be healthier and happier. God Bless Cindy
