I have been taking in only liquids every since 9-27-03 and I have not eaten any thing since 9-26-03 I have not been hungry just a little bit worried I was concerned and wanted to know if I could eat anything It has been 10 days since eating.
Topic: RE: Am I eating too much?
I'm not a dr. or expert on how much is too much by any means, but I can do 4-6 oz. of yogurt at a time and I only my surgery just before you (I'm 2 1/2 weeks post-op). I think the key is to eat it slowly. I try to stretch it out over 45 minutes, which I know can be a challenge for those of us that are "firefighter" eaters. Good luck in the rest of your recovery.
Topic: Am I eating too much?
I am scared I am eating too much. I have been on liquids since I came home on 10/3 and at first I could only tolerate a few teaspoons full of soup or whatever, buut recently I noticed I can tolerate up to 6 ounces of yogurt or soup at a time. Is this a bad thing, am I stretching my pouch already?
Topic: Feeling great!!!
Hello everyone, God is GOOD!! and so was my surgery.. It was on the 24th of Sept. 2003. My friends from church were there and my wonderfull husband. Surgery took a little longer then expected because my blood pressure went out of control during surgery. Then my oxygen levels weren't going right either so I got to spend a day in ICU. Of course when you wake up the first thing you ask yourself is.." Why did I due this?" They had my hands tied down so I was not a happy camper.. But the next day they sent me to the floor with oxygen and all started getting better. That night I got to get up and that did help.Seems they forgot to tell me that there is a chance you will have back pain after surgery because of the way you are laid on the table. Trust me I already had back problems so this was not good. Then I'd get nausa from the pain meds so I had to get meds for that too. My husband stayed every night at the hospital which made me feel better mentally. By Sat. morning they were having to look for me cause I was out cruiseing the halls and visiting other patients. By lunch time they sent me home my blood pressure under control but with oxygen.. Sunday morning I was at church singing with our little song group. The Pastors wife said I was showing off.. But told everyone at church that she really figured it was the drugs (she was right) My husband took the week off to pamper me and he sure did.. made all my meals up,cleaned house and best of all rubbed me down with firming lotion every day...I received some beautiful flowers from a special friend on the web site and I hope 1 day I can meet her.. Let's see by Mon. I was walking 15 min. 2x's a day , by Wen 30min.2x's a day And on Thurs. we went to the fair I felt great.. The oxygen tank is at home ,I figure if I can sing and hold out those long notes like there is no tommorrow.. I really don't need it . unoffical weight loss is 24lbs. I go for my 2 week post -op check up on the 9th so.. until then God Bless everyone and take care...shelby ford (shelbyofok)

Yesterday I pulled a musle, and OH MY GOD! I am in so much pain. But other then that everything is ok! Good Luck, and God Bless.

Congratulations! It's good to hear you had a successfull surgery and recovery (so far). I had RNY-lap 9/22/03 and everything's gone pretty well for me too. I think hopefuls need to hear this because so many people tell them of the misery or unsuccessful stories. Good luck and keep it up!
Topic: Surgery a Success
My surgery was on September 26, 2003 at 1:00 p.m. at the GW Hospital in DC. My surgeon is Dr. Paul Lin. Everything has gone wonderfully. I have not had to take pain medication since last Thursday, less than a week following the surgery. My incision is healing well, and I feel fantastic. I am just so sorry I waited so long.

Well I'm alive, feeling pretty well and it's my first day back to work. Only downside is that I'm not losing as fast as others. I actually came home from the hospital a few lbs higher than I went in. I'm down about 9 lbs (pre-op) and 12 (coming home weight). Patience has always been my worst virtue. But with coming back to work and walking more and more every day, hopefully it will come off soon enough. Good luck and God Bless all those recoverying also.

Hello! I am having a difficult time with the protein shakes. My nutritionist here suggested Boost Breeze. It is great. Try it!

Hello Rena,
It seems we had our surgery on the same day. Let's keep in touch. I had the surgery at 7:30 am. CST 9/30/03 and went home on 10/2/03. I am feeling pretty good. I had an episode because I drank apple juice first thing in the morning and experienced horrible dizziness, weakness, a faint feeling. Once it passed I drank some nonsweet tea, some chicken broth. So far so good! I wish you the best.
