Ok I have 27 lbs to go until im at my ultimate goal of 130. At 8 month checkup I had lost 101lbs......I have lost nothing since! It simply has stopped. I have picked my excercise up and I'm walking myself to death, ive upped my fluid intake to two gallons a day and Im drinking my protien, so what gives? I still dont eat any carbs, such as bread, pasta, rice, potatoes etc. I dont eat any sugar.....its grilled meats, salads and cheese....where am I going wrong? I am so discouraged. Is this the end? Have I lost all that I'm going to lose? I am very proud of the weight I have lost, I feel amazing, I look ten times better but I am so close to my goal that its unreal and I cant seem to get it off. Any suggestions??? I am going to be a year out next month on the 22nd and I was really praying I would be at goal when I went back for my one year checkup. Help me out guys, any suggestions are greatly appreciated....what do ya'll think? Hugs, carol 9-22-03, -101 258/157/ ?130?

Your not alone my weight has stall also. My Dr. told me I was going to hit many many plateaus and he was not kidding. Just when i thought I got off of plateau of 3 weeks and was on my way to losing weight again. I ended up on another one. My Dr. just told me to keep doing what I was doing to eat right and exercise but I do get discourage but I"m doing my best to keep doing what he said. It make me feel good when my family told me I can stop now but secretly I would love a normal bmi if not I'm okay with I have lost if it wasn't for this surgery I wouldn't have lost this much in 11 months. Take out that before picture and look how far you come. Put on those before pants or clothes and be amaze at how far you come. You sure be so happy 101 lbs lost My husband has to put me in check also he'll go and get my before pant and make me put them on so I could see how far I come. Hope this make feel better Sharon -109.5 plateau

Hey Carol Plateaus, Plateaus, Plateaus, Hate them. You are doing fine. Keep focused. Your body will do it in time. If goal at one year out doesn't happen, then don't lose sleep. It will happen. You are doing all the right things. Your body will respond and you will make it. Have a good weekend and keep us posted. Good Luck. Luis

Carol, I think you know the answer is that you are doing nothing wrong. Your body is just not cooperating. Have you tried to journal what you are eating, perhaps you are eating more that you should be without realizing it. Although I don't really advocate this, several people on another Board that I participate in have tried doing the Stillman diet in order to jump start their weight loss again and have had great results. They are losing a pound a day, so they claim. The diet is very specific and very restrictive (mostly protein and not much else) and you can only stay on it for no more than 10 days and have to follow it to a T with no deviations. I don't know the exact website for it but I'm sure if you type Stillman Diet in your browser you can find it. Another thing you could try, that I have heard recommended is go back on your original post-op plan - you know liquids, then mushy foods, etc. I don't promise anything but just putting it out there for you to consider. Hang in there no matter what, you've done well! Patti

Patricia, thank you and the others for your replies. Helps to know Im not alone and that someone else understands. As for eating too much, well I take in 3 ounces, 4 times a day. Chicken, grilled....salad, or chicken salad, egg salad or tuna. Thats my menu. I have a protien shake a day. So I dont really know if I am eating too much or not. I will look up the stillman diet and see what it has to say. Otherwise, I am going to go back on liquids for a while and see if that helps. thanks girl carol

Hello my WLS anniversary friend (I'm also a 9/22 'er!). Keep the faith! It's so hard. I've experienced the same thing as you. Weight loss really slowed down for me after the 6 or 7 month marks. There was a period between where I lost NOTHING - it was just up and down the same 2 lbs. It was frustrating because I had really upped my excersize and NOTHING. Finally I did notice that I seemed slimmer, but the scale did not show it. A few weeks ago the weight started coming off again, although slowly. As others have suggested, you just have to keep going and keep doing your best. I know that in past diets, plateus killed me. As soon as I hit them, it was over... I went off program and it all came back. Now we have this great tool, so hopefully THAT won't happen, but the plateus still occur. Yeah, I've kicked up the excersize and focused on food, but sometimes that didn't help. I've tried to be very aware and not in denial about my eating (because in the past I really did not realize what amounts of food I consumed - I don't want to go there again) and honestly think it's just been a plateu! I'm not quite to goal, but keep plugging along. What cheers me up is to look at the weight loss planner for this sight and it shows my weight coming off pretty much like it did overall - with minor losses occuring for a few more months. If I plot my monthly weights, I do see a steady loss of a few pounds a month, but on a day to day basis, I didn't see it at all. Maybe it might help you to make a chart or look at a table of your weight loss to see your progress.... a small thing I know, but it seems to help me. Good luck to you. WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT TO GOAL!
