EXCESS SKIN
Just had to butt in... I was telling a friend last night that I should wait until I've been stable for a while before pursuing plastic surgery to remove excess skin. I was talking about a stable weight, of course, but she joked about mentality: "Jen, it's going to be a lot harder than losing all the weight for you to be stable." Heh.
Ugh, don't even get me started on excess skin. My arms are hideous and my stomach.... if I had been heavy all over in the same way I'm sure the excess skin wouldn't be such an issue but since I carried the majority of it in my stomach.. .can you say wrinkly blanket (not apron)... it already looks gross... and I still have 45-60 more lbs to go. bleh.
I really really hope insurance will cover this tt... and yes, I do believe you should wait until you have stablized your weight-loss for at least 6 months of losing b4 thinking of surgery. Just think of it like this.. at least you look fantastic in clothes!!!
darn summer season!

I feel the same way Darlene. Ive lost 125 pds in 7 months and well im a little wrinkly in certain areas. I would love to get my tummy and thighs done and of course the 'girls' are gone lol. I dont have insurance right now so I guess I'll wait or try to get on extreme makeover lol...good luck and congrats on the weight loss. I still believe this surgery is a blessing, even with the inability to wear a bathing suit this summer (ewww)lol

Okay, those of you who just look a little like a "wrinkly blanket", stop the whining LOL! Just kidding.
After losing 188 lbs in six months - my stomache and legs, butt and arms are comical. I have wings that flap! Not to mention that because I had Lymphodema primarily in my inner thighs, they were swollen up like watermellons. They now have left a basketball sized deflated pocket on my right inner thigh! My stomache truly looks like a deflated ballon, and I think that it will take some doing this time for me to accept how I look.
On the positive, I have an extraordinarily supportive and loving husband, who has loved me and found me attractive literally through "thick and thin"! He sees me as so beautiful, and doesn't share the same concern about my looks as me.
The scarry part? I still have 100 lbs or more to go - If I am so blessed - and holy cow....I already have three inch flappers on my arms!!!
I tease my kids with them, and they delight in seeing me flap my wings. I guess it's simply going to be more fun in the future when I have five inch wings, huh?
Now the crazy part. After coming so close to dying because of my co-morbidities, I'm not sure I'm going to be willing to risk my life by going under the knife again - for purely cosmetic reasons! Tough choice for me!
Wish you all the best!

I can sympathise with the excess skin issue. I have lost almost 200 pounds since surgery on Sept 2nd. I talked to my surgeon and he said , that many of his patients that have to loose more than 250 pounds have the plastic surgery especially the stomach in two phases. My whole body needs nipping, tucking and lifting!
