 Three weeks and counting....
Hi you guys! I have been on my first significant plateau for the last 3 weeks and am really getting depressed. Surgery 9/17/03 down 64-67lbs(?****ep playing with the same 3 lbs! I started at 347 and know that that is a good amount to lose, but I want more!!! One lady at work had surgery 3 days before me and is down 95lbs!! How is she doing that? I have a sit down job, she is on her feet all day, I have no time for the gym, she goes many times a week. I guess I see some of the reasons, but Man am I jealous! I can eat most everything including all the bad things. No red meat including ground beef and lettuce just doesnt work. Enough whining, I know. Just need to talk with others who are going through the same things. So down....
Shannah, Don't give up.... My surgery was on the 25th of Sept. and I have only lost 56 pounds. I don't have the time to have a workout schedule. I just do what I can when I can. I think you are doing great!! At least we haven't been gaining... Ha! Ha!. I do the samething. I will weigh 181 one day and then the next two or three days, I will weigh 185. What is up with that!! Well, Don't get down on yourself. We are just struggling right now. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Angie
Good morning Shannah, Hang in there, I had my surgery 9/4/03, started at the same weight as you and I have only lost 73. I was on a plateau for about three weeks also, then woke up one morning, decided to get on the scales and whoosh I was down 5 pounds. I also have a sit down job but try to get up and walk around as often as possible, I also stated walking in the morning to Leslie Simones walk away the pounds videos. It seems to be helping and I can do it while getting ready for work. I get down too but try to remember without the surgery I probably would have gained half of what I lost over the holidays! Good luck!!
I had my surgery on sept. 12th. I hear ya about not having time to work out, but when I went back to work I decided I had to go to the gym as well... I had to MAKE the time. So now I am getting up at 5am to be at the gym by 6am and do a workout for at least an hour then go off to work, which is a sitdown job.
At first I HATED THE GYM WITH THE PASSION OF TEN BLAZING SUNS!! but now since I've been doing this since Oct. 28th, I can definitely feel the difference during the day at work when I don't go-- which has been only once.
I think that it's all a matter of making yourself go. I am trying to minimize as much as possible the amount of excess skin I will have when all my weight is lost. I was 350 lbs before surgery and I have now lost 97lbs after being on a 3 week plateau, being stuck at 90 lbs. So, in like 3 days I lost 7lbs.
So, despite how much I've lost and the effort I've put into speeding up the weight-loss process, I had some very dark days while I was plateau'ing... not wanting to go out, see friends or family, etc... combine that with the winter blues and that's just a recipe for depression.
So, maybe you can do something in the mornings before you go to work, if only an 8 minute ab video (which I have and use)... it could at least speed you along.
Thanks you guys! You have given me some ideas, especially the video workouts. I could do them in the evenings as my mornings are kind of taken. I know that I could get to the gym at least twice a week for about an hour, so I just need to do it. I finally fell off my plateau, only 2lbs, but enough to make me feel better. I also dragged out a box of clothes that I packed up over 3 years ago when I outgrew them and guess what?!?! The lion's share of them fit! about 20 more lbs and I should be able to get into all of them! It was like meeting old friends! I have also restructured my eating habits and am drinking more water to help the weight loss.
Thanks,
Shannah
