I have been making a protein shake that I can tolerate at ten wks out (down 49 lbs and nothing in the last 3-4 weeks ) anyways, I need to know how wrong I am with drinking this. Heres the ingredients 1 banana, 5 fresh strawberries, 6 ounce unsweet pineapple juice, designer whey protien powder natural flavor, 2 cups crushed ice. Blended in blender and remainder frozen for later. Someone told me that this was bad because of the carbs in the fruit and juice. I dont do milk well and with only getting 90-150 calories a day, I was hoping this protein shake would help me. I havent lost in weeks and I simply cant eat that much. A few bites and Im done. I know my body is in starvation but I dont know how to get it out and get more calories. I dont throw up or anything like that, I simply can not eat that much. AT this rate I am scared I wont lose any more weight for a while. Send some advice my way Please!!!!!!!!!

I don't know how much protein powder you put in it but it sounds like you're getting many more carbs than protein in your shake. You need to be eating protein sources, meat, eggs, cheese, etc. You're only getting 90-150 calories a day?? I don't see how that's possible. How many time per day do you eat? What are you eating besides the shake?? You really are in starvation mode. Have you talked with your surgeon or dietitian? Connie

Wow only 150 calories a day ! I'm worried for you. I'm about 11 weeks out and am eating much more than I thought I would be able to. You can't really compare yourself to me, because everyone is different, but I must always eat protein in the morning or I just don't feel right all day and cannot eat much without a nauseous feeling. I'm not an egg person, but found that 1 scrambled egg in the morning, which I sometimes have to force myseklf to eat (I Hate eggs) can make all the difference in my day. Funny, but I can't do protein shakes at all. I agree that you should speak to a nutritionist familiar with this surgury. Although miserable at first, when I started eating, not drinking, protein, my life turned around. Suzanne

The banana, pineapple and strawberries are loaded with sugar, eventho it's not processed sugar, it's still loaded with carbs.... The high carbs will definately slow down any weight loss. Can you add nonfat dry milk to a shake instead?? Or perhaps mix the shake with Crystal Light? Have you talked with the surgeon as to why you are so unable to eat?? Cottage cheese works wonders and if you ma**** up with a fork before eating it, it will practically slide down. It's high in protein as well.

i think the shake sounds very tasty. The only thing I can personally tell you is that my doctor told me bananas are a no-no. It's too easy access to sugar.
