I am four weeks post-op and would like some ideas as to which whole foods people are eating. I am eating yogurt, protein shakes, mashed potatoes, Wendy's chili and popscicles. I need some more variety. Help! 49 lb. loss in three weeks. Will weigh at my fifth week post-op.

My lap RNY was 9/9/03, and so far, I've easily tolerated: Fake crab cakes made with canned tuna Tuna burgers Homemade hamburgers with 92 percent lean ground beef Chili with cheese and low-fat sour cream Scrambled eggs (omelets) with cheese A slice of fat-free bologna and a slice of American cheese rolled up Sugar-free peanut butter cookies Low-fat peanut butter and sugar-free strawberry jelly Chicken salad Ham salad Mashed potatoes Refried beans with cheddar and low-fat sour cream Sushi (I don't eat the rice, so, really, it's just raw fish) Dole, Popsicle brand and Welch's sugar-free popsicles Tons of soups (chicken noodle, miso, cream of mushroom and more) A slice of roast beef with a little cheese (either low-fat cheddar or a little melted Brie) rolled up I've also had some Lean Cuisine frozen meals (Thai-style chicken and a salisbury steak-like meal). Initially, these went down easy, but my first experience vomiting was with one of these, even though I'd tolerated the same meal before. Maybe I was too ****y and eating too fast. Maybe I didn't chew thoroughly enough. Regardless of the reason, I'm reluctant to try again (though I will eventually). While early in my soft-foods stage (which my doc and nutritionist set for three weeks after surgery, if the patient is tolerating everything okay), I actually had a few meals of chicken nuggets from McDonalds. I'd order a pack of four and eat three or four of them, always chewing thoroughly. I'm over that craving now, which is a good thing. I've also had shrimp with ****tail sauce a few times. While I agree with many other post-ops who say it goes down well, I find it loses a lot of appeal after you've chewed a bite of shrimp until it's pureed in your mouth! I actually had a wedge of toast with soup one day, and I tolerated it fine. I've also eaten a few noodles from the shells and cheese side of the Lean Cuisines meal with no problems. But then, I chewed like a mad woman, and I only had about three or four noodles.
