Question for the Losing Side
Hi! I have a post-op surgery question regarding losing weight. If you feel up to it I would really appreciate any detailed replies to this question, I have already heard some generic answers, but I would love to hear personal experiences. This is my question: I am now 6 days post-op (YEA!), doing really well, eating, "all" functions otherwise working well. Approximately Mon-Tues, I lost all of the surgery weight-gain, from Tuesday to today Thursday, I am down 6lbs. I have no barometer to know whether that is good, expected, what to expect, etc. I have only heard comments from people about losing 20+ etc. after 10 days, etc., but not the immediate....It is funny because I know that in prior years losing 6lbs. in a couple of days would have been great, I guess I am feeling a little paranoid!! Any thoughts, feelings!???? Thanks, Lori
Dear lori
Losingm 6m lbs is just the start and a good start at that. Just remember that everyone loses at a different pace. Beleive me when i tell you soon enough you will be telling every9ne you are now down 25 then 50 and before long that special 100 or more. Please be patient. Life is grand on the losing side. This Saturday is my 1 year anniversay and i am down 103 and went from a siz 22-24 to a 9-10. Keep upmthe goodm work and welcome to the other side.

Dear Lori,
I had my surgery on the 16th. When I went in for my two week postop I was down 14 lbs. I was discouraged because I really wanted to be down over 20 lbs. My doc said I was right on track. He said I should continue to lose between 5-7 lbs a week, between 20-25 lbs a month. That puts me at my 100 mark in 4-5 months, which will be fantastic. I weighed myself one week after surgery and was down 19 lbs, then a few days later by weight was back up another 9 lbs. That put me in the dumps until someone talked to me abou****er weight. So don't be discouraged. The goal is to lose weight and that is exactly what you are doing. Best wishes, Laura
