how about a three day protein feast... what you do is this now i do not do this myself but my hubby worries if i do it lol...
protein feast for three days drink only protein shakes, 8 times a day if needed... and make sure to get in the water that you need, stay away from carbs that usually is the monster that grabs at us...
what i do: a tad bit different like i said hubby dont like me doing just the protein drinks, i go on a protein feast i add in extra protein drinks, and only eat items that are high in protein, example a portion of chicken baked, refried beans, cheese type things... and i do this for three days and i can usually break a plateau...
hope this helps hon...

lisa, the first thing i would do is throw out all the sugars, some people do not dump on sugars and you seem to be one of those people.... get back to the basics, start from scratch in other words. you can do this!!!!!
start parking that car farther and farther from the stores to make yourself walk to get in the doors, take and walk that store over and over again to get in some extra walking in... when its too hot for me to go out and walk i go to the mall or a walmart and just walk around it for about an hour then i feel better and i know i got somewhat of a walk in...
get into a support group sometimes support groups, do a walk together to help each other.. if you are in a support group set up a walk thing time, dates and get others to go with you... its hard without that support i know but we are here for you... good luck and keep us posted hon

Lisa, NOt to be harsh but by not exercising and not cutting out the sugars/carbs you are just defeating yourself. I was on a plateau for 6 weeks recently and my scale ws just sitting there not moving down anymore. I realized that I was slacking up on the exercise and "cheating" myself by eating those carbs and sugar foods. It was frustrating, but I am now back on track....It is not easy for me. I live alone, have no immediate family within 1200 miles of me and my support system is not the best. Most people are starting to pull away from me as I get smaller. It is funny how weight loss changes your friends perspective of you. Anyway; what I am saying is that you need to dig deep down within yourself and find that passion and desire to continue and remember that this is just a tool you were given by your surgeon and only you can make it a success. Email me if you want some moral support long distance...I understand the lack of exercise support...If you can't find it then turn to GOD for that support. He knows you best and what you need. Good luck. Nancy

I was on a 6 week plateau and it got frustrating, but remember our bodies are going through some major adjustments. I just upped my exercise and noticed that I was "cheating" myself by eatting a few more carbs than I needed to be doing. Once I got back on track with the protein and exercise routine; the weight has started to drop again. I too am like you looking at or just blaming the extra skin andn thinking if I got that removed; just how much that would drop me in the loosing game. Good luck and don't beat yourself up too much.

My anniversary date is 9/30 and I have lost 102#. I am 2# below my Doc's goal for me and that will be great for my 1 year check-up. I am happy with my weight and really would like to stay here at 143 size 12/14. My biggest concern is hanging skin. Everything hangs to the floor. I didn't really want to go through plastic surgery but I don't see how I can firm up this skin on my own. If anyone has a successful way to firm it up, please e-mail me. I believe that I have enough documentation to get a breast lift from yeast infections but I don't know how to get my tummy tuck or something for my baggy chin. I am so happy with the weight loss that if I don't see a change in my skin then so be it, but it would be nice to have it done. Other wise, I'm healthy, happy and blessed to have been able to have this surgery.

Ok, here's the deal..I'm at a year and out 100 pounds with 100 more to go...and I've been doing doing everything I did before the surgery for the last six months. No exercise, no cutting sugar, but I still have a smaller stomach, at least. Is there hope of success yet when you totally screw up? I can't find an exercise partner for moral support! It's depressing, and we all know the emotional eating rollercoaster! HELP!!

My surgery was September 20, 2002. At about 5 months I went on a 4month plateau. I was so frustrated. I was losing inches but not an ounce of weight. I finally asked my support group what I could do. The suggestion was to go on a low carb regiment. Make sure to get your protein in and dark green veggies. No white onion and no white veggies. Drink fresh squeezed grapefruit with pulp because it stays with you longer than just the juice. Drink this several times a day. Keep portions small and do six small meals a day. small meals keep the metabalism going throughout the day. Drink no less than 64 ounces of fluid a day. This helps flush the bad fat out of your system. Make sure you stay active. I joined curves and walk at least 5 miles a day. I lost 8 lbs the first week of the low carbs. I am down to 170 right now. I have lost 105 lbs so far. I have just now reached another dreaded plateau. I really have to watch the carbs. I seem to be very carb resistant. I doesn't take much carb to stop my weight loss. I don't gain but I don't lose either. So I guess it's back to the protein. Also, don't drink your fluids at the same time you eat. This washes your food through to quickly and you are hungry sooner plus you don't get the neutriants from it like you should. You should wait for at least 45 minutes before drinking anything. This is difficult but you will notice a difference in how you feel. Drinking fluids with meals can also cause dummping. Hope this helps. Pat from Mi.

Hi Jennifer, You go girl. I admire your determination. It is a difficult journey indeed. I have been a slow loser. I don't always make the best food choices. But I keep getting back on that wagin and trying again. I am an emotional eater. I think stress affects me alot also. Lord know I have plenty of stress going on in my life. But you need to plug yourself into the support of these groups. It helps alot to keep you in check. I wish you the very best. You just keep that determination up and you will make it.
