So I just completed my first week post op!! yayyyy :) Im excited, nervous, worried, confused... EVERYTHING. Today I am moody as hell as well. IDK maybe its because I haven't physically eaten anything in a week. I am very excited for Wednesday to get here. Then I will have completed 2 wks and can start the pureed/mushy phase. I plan on utilizing protein shakes a lot because I work 2 jobs and its kinda hectic right now to prepare foods. But for the days I can eat, does anyone have any suggestions on what they found satisfying?

Hi Brandy,
Congratulations on your surgery today. I know you are a little out of it today but hang in there. I have my surgery tomorrow the 19th and I pray it goes well. I will chat with you later this week to check on you!!
Good luck Honey! I am having my surgery tomorrow and I am super excited. Right now I have 39 mins before no food or drink but it doesn't matter b/c I am on liquids only anyway. I am starving right now…yikes!!!
I will be glad to be your buddy to share this journey with. Talk to in a few days!!
Hi there,
I am thrilled to meet someone else that has went through what I went through. I had the lap band in 2008 and had it removed 2012. I said I will never have any type of weight loss surgery again. Two years later here I am having it done tomorrow. Good luck with your surgery on Wednesday!!
Hi Carebear, Depending on your doctor, you will have full liquids 2 weeks prior to surgery, then nothing after 9pm, the night of the surgery, or 1 week of full liquids, then nothing the night of your surgery. You should check with your doctor about taking prescribed meds though. This is all to make sure that your liver is functioning properly. Aside frm that, I had my sleeve on August 4th and did not stick with full liquids the whole time. It was very hard. The Friday night before my monday surgery I had gone out to eat with my daughter and my doctor said my liver looked fantastic. There is no last minute weight loss protocol, except is your dr. tells you that (I am not speaking from a DR.'s point of view, just my own) - the reason for the liquid diet is to make sure your liver is the best it can be.
My class went good.. Kinda weird I was the youngest person there and my mom went with so people thought I was her support... I was worried for nothing my pre-op diet consists of a special diet the day before surgery and that's it... Thanks for checking on me

My surgery is scheduled for Aug 22/14 in Toronto. The pre-op diet consists of 3 weeks of Optifast 900 shakes 4x day. Other than that I can have clear sugar-free fluids, sugar-free jello and sugar-free popsicles. It's tough, headaches from time to time, but I keep on drinking. I'm pretty nervous, but looking forward to my surgery too, if you know what I mean. :)
