Pre-op diet
I know several of us have surgery scheduled for that first week of August, so I'm guessing several have started the pre-op diet as well. I'm on day 4 of mine. So far, it's going fine. I feel hungry, but I'm not starving. I get 4 protein shakes plus 1 fruit serving and a 500-calorie meal every day. All totaled up, about 1100 calories. I blend my fruit in my breakfast shake and eat my meal at lunch. That schedule seems to help from getting too hungry.
How is everyone else doing with the pre-op diet?

You all have more lenient surgeons. My surgery is Aug 7, and I am supposed to be on clear liquids for 10 days prior. I can have lettuce but nothing else except some fresh orange squeezed on it. I have been drinking 1/2 bottle of Isopure 3 x a day. Not too difficult during the day, but the nights are hard. He said that it will help make the surgery go easier by shrinking my liver. One more week.....
I'm scheduled for surgery on August 11. I'm on day 5 of my pre op. I have to eat their food. Which consist of 800 - 900 calories. Best of luck everyone on your surgery.

I'm having mine on the 6th, so I'm at the end of day 6. I can have 4 protein shakes a day and 1/2 cup of veggies. I can also have 64oz of water, G2, jello, popsicles, broth... I'm doing really well on it surprisingly. The first day was rough with headaches but those ended the second day and all is going well!! Good luck to all!!
My surgery is scheduled for Aug 22/14 in Toronto. The pre-op diet consists of 3 weeks of Optifast 900 shakes 4x day. Other than that I can have clear sugar-free fluids, sugar-free jello and sugar-free popsicles. It's tough, headaches from time to time, but I keep on drinking. I'm pretty nervous, but looking forward to my surgery too, if you know what I mean. :)

Metabolism varies from person to person. Before preop, 1200-1400 calories a day meant weight loss for me, so when I started the preop diet with 1100 cals I continued to lose weight.
