I am thrilled to ge to know all of you. There is going to be a few of us on that losers bench and I couldn't be happier. The experiences we will all be able to share is going to be great. I am looking forward to having some comfort in knowing I am not alone, but also some people to turn to when things are not as I had hoped, and also people there to help celebrate success!
Best of luck to you all

I am hoping to have RNY in August-my insurance required a 1 year diet, and my last check in is mid-Aug. All of my paperwork has been done up to the point of the last two check ins. I'm hoping that after my July check in, they'll go ahead and put me on the pre-surgery liquid diet so I'm ready to have surgery as soon as I do my last check in (assuming my insurance doesn't drag their feet for approval!). To say I'm tired of waiting is an understatement!

I am scheduled in Aug, I haven't started trying Protein shakes yet. I am hearing a lot of ppl not liking them, I did try Jay Robb months ago for a diet I was on. It wasn't too bad. I guess I should be prepping as well.
Looking for buddies to talk to while I go through this and vice versa.

Pleased to say I'll be joining you on August 14th. I have to call the hospital back tomorrow (Monday, June 18) to get the time of the surgery and the date I should come in (pre-surgery) to speak with the nutritionist to start my (liquid) diet.
Hope all goes well for you and I'd like to hear about your experiences.

Also looking at August for my surgery and IM tried a bunch of protein powders!!! So far I really like matrix (all of them are pretty good) but they have one that tastes like mint cookies(yumm) ,click(coffee flavored) I like the Visalus shakes(vanilla creammy flavored and can add fruit etc but are costlier) and vitasport se7vin protein shakes(at nutrishop) Especially in the mini blender with some crushed ice..

I'm at 3 months of a 6 month track and am anxiously waiting, feeling a bit lost in the process. I have been experimenting with protein powders/drinks/bars as I am extremely picky too. I found that I can tolerate Isopure, Syntax Nectar, and some of the Jay Robb Stuff. Unfortunately, I've been hearing that tastes can change after surgery - so who knows what I'll be able to tolerate after. lol

Hi Lizzy,
So happy to meet you, I have a story to tell but the bottom line is I am preparing for my surgery which has to be in August due to work. I have started to prepare as well and trust me, the more we can do now, the happier we will be later.
I ordered some protein powder but need to look at the company again, will share with you this week. I haven't tried them yet because I tend to find them disgusting.
I am so happy to know someone else is going through the same prep. Let me know which ones you have tried.
Until then,
Sharon

Topic: Pre-Planning
I'm tentatively scheduling my surgery in August of 2012 (5 months away) due to work committments AND finding someone to stay with me for an extended period of time. ** Sometimes it sucks to be single and living alone! **
How is anyone else pre-planning for surgery?
I'm trying to explore my options for protein - trying every protein drink/bar/etc on the market (so far, I'm not doing so well with my picky tastes!) I could use any help!
