August 6 is my date

My surgery is scheduled for August 6. That is still pending insurance approval which should be fine. I have my last class on July 9 then they said as long as they have all of the pieces they will turn into insurance. They SHOULD have all of the pieces. I will be checking on that on Thurs.

Anyone else out there with surgery in August?

 Congrats on scheduling!  I also have August 6th scheduled. Very excited ... Feels like this has been such a long journey to get to this point. I have Kaiser insurance and you have a lot of steps to complete before finally getting to the actual date of surgery.

Congrats to you too on your surgery date. It is quite a process no matter which insurance you have. I have CIGNA which seems to be pretty straight forward. I was originally looking at Oct-Nov because of a 6 month pre-op requirement. In May CIGNA revised their requirements to 3 months instead of 6 months...that got things moving. My PCP still hasn't gotten their letter of medical clearance to my surgeon. I will be bugging them Monday again. That is the only piece missing right now. I will feel better when insurance approval is official.

I am have VSG surgery. What surgery are you having?

 I am having the RNY and have a great surgeon lined up. Dr. Suh in Murrieta, CA.   I had to go thru a 12 week Options class through Kaiser with a small group, a reg dietician taught the class. It was very educational and I met some great ladies and we have all kept in touch. 

One of the ladies is scheduled July 23rd and she will be the first of the ladies. I am next in line. The surgeon is on vacation the last 2 weeks of July otherwise I would of been sooner. Hoping he comes back refreshed and ready to go. 

If you'd like we could keep in touch and compare our journeys.  It really helps to have support on all levels. I have a good friend who had the surgery 5 years ago. She has been very helpful. I started this adventure over 2 years ago, but my husbands ins changed. I was 4 mths into the mandated 6 month classes. I was so discouraged thinking Kaiser had even more hoops to jump through. Kaiser at the time had a 26 week Options educational class requirement. And it was only held at a few places none of which were remotely close to my job. Timing was not good. So I started my journey fresh in January 2012.  So 8 months later I am scheduled. Timing is everything.

We should definitely stay in touch. I have a channel on Youtube (NadurraDeb) that I have uploaded some videos logging my journey so far. I am finding that to be good therapy. No matter what surgery you are having we are all going to deal with pretty much the same issues. I know I need all the support I can get!

I also have an August 6th date here in Louisiana. I am so nervous though.. Are ya'll?

TOTALLY nervous! I think my house is going to be very clean trying to focus my anxieties. We can do this! I have to make this change and get my life back. How about you?

 Very !! But excited at the same time. It will be life changing and an adventure that replays every day forward.
