I'm tentatively scheduling my surgery in August of 2012 (5 months away) due to work committments AND finding someone to stay with me for an extended period of time.  ** Sometimes it sucks to be single and living alone! **

How is anyone else pre-planning for surgery?

I'm trying to explore my options for protein - trying every protein drink/bar/etc on the market (so far, I'm not doing so well with my picky tastes!)  I could use any help!

Hi Lizzy,

So happy to meet you, I have a story to tell but the bottom line is I am preparing for my surgery which has to be in August due to work. I have started to prepare as well and trust me, the more we can do now, the happier we will be later.

I ordered some protein powder but need to look at the company again, will share with you this week. I haven't tried them yet because I tend to find them disgusting.

I am so happy to know someone else is going through the same prep. Let me know which ones you have tried.

Until then,
Sharon

I'm at 3 months of a 6 month track and am anxiously waiting, feeling a bit lost in the process.  I have been experimenting with protein powders/drinks/bars as I am extremely picky too.  I found that I can tolerate Isopure, Syntax Nectar, and some of the Jay Robb Stuff.  Unfortunately, I've been hearing that tastes can change after surgery - so who knows what I'll be able to tolerate after.  lol

Also looking at August for my surgery and IM tried a bunch of protein powders!!! So far I really like matrix (all of them are pretty good) but they have one that tastes like mint cookies(yumm) ,click(coffee flavored) I like the Visalus shakes(vanilla creammy flavored and can add fruit etc but are costlier) and vitasport se7vin protein shakes(at nutrishop) Especially in the mini blender with some crushed ice..

I am scheduled in Aug, I haven't started trying Protein shakes yet. I am hearing a lot of ppl not liking them, I did try Jay Robb months ago for a diet I was on. It wasn't too bad. I guess I should be prepping as well.
Looking for buddies to talk to while I go through this and vice versa.

Hello all= ) I'm also getting prepped for my surgery date in 23 days-YAY! I've been doing alot of OH reading lately- there's so many little nuggets of wisdom on here that I've been making a spreadsheet of all the stuff I need to check out...it makes it so much easier cause it's all in the same place and I dont have to try to find it!

I've got my vitamins ordered, picked up my new recliner today, made a list of things I want done before I have to leave for the big day and things to pack for the hospital... I haven't bought any protein powder yet because of hearing about our tastes changing so I just have a few muscle milks to get me started- and I just finished my grocery list of all the SF stuff I wanna stock up on. UGHHHH.... I can't wait till I'm on the other side of all this! Good luck ladies! We'll all be on that infamous "Loser's Bench" VERY SOON  !!

Deb

God bless!
