i am trying not to overdo it while also walking like i'm told to.
i have to re-learn how to burp?
i'm trying not to over stuff myself with water and figure out how to take my crushed meds...
any suggestions on the meds part?

Topic: August 9th was the day - now on to healing!
I am done with the cut/paste and now ready to heal. I'm only a few days out, but dealing with fluid intake every 15 min, trying to increase protein, balancing my meds - very glad to have dear hubby taking care of me. I'm sore, having to re-learn how to burp, not sure what "full" and "empty" feel like, and terrified of not getting something right. So far, so good though...Anybody else healing and ready to find a seat on the loser's bench!?

I'm with you! This may not be an easy journey, but it has some great "prizes" and I'm glad OH has given a more realistic look. I sometimes wonder if surgery was the "easy way out" as opposed to diet/exercise - then I slap myself and say that diet/exercise are still part of it! My surgery was Aug.9th - and though I'm not happy being sore and drinking fluids every 15 min - I'm glad to be on the healing side. I hope that you, too, are on the healing side and happy to be here!

Congrats! The same thing happened to me, mine was for the 29th originally as well and is now the 22nd. Blessings and God speed to you! ;), I find I'm tolerating the protein phase better than I thought, I was afraid at first that I couldn't do it but I'm doing it!

My surgery was originally scheduled for August 29th BUT due to conflicts with my surgeon's schedule- it is now the 22nd. YIPES that is in like 1 week and 2 days as of midnight tonight. I am very happy. Just have to manage to get more done in a shorter amount of time now......

Wishing you all the best. I forget what it is like to have a REAL Hospital on post. We had a small one with very limited services at FLW, but Fort Drum has nothing but a clinic, even the UCC closes at 8:00 pm. I had to travel to Syracuse an hour and 15 mins for my surgery and all my follow up aptts. Good Luck to you!!!
