Anything but the bowel cleanse! UG. My dr has me take dulcolax and miralax mixed with a no carb sports drink...that isn't red, orange, blue or purple...and of course G2 is low carb, but nowhere near no carb, and Powerade Zero is great - but they only had 1 green 32 oz...I need 64 oz. Back to the stores tomorrow to search out yellow and green (or clear!) no carb sports drink for my cleanse.
Glad to know I'm not in it alone!

He didn't put me on a pre-op diet, which I thought was odd...I weighed in on 8/17 at 310.1 and the RN there said that I have to get to 304.6 to qualify for surgery. I know their scales are different from mine, but mine says 302.5 (I wish I knew how far off my scale was from theirs) and I still have to do my bowel cleanse Tuesday which I know will drop a couple of lbs....I was doing salads the first week and now I'm doing clear liquids and it seems to be working. Also walking a TON outside and on the treadmill!
That's fantastic that you lost so much weight! GREAT JOB!!! I'll be thinking of ya Wednesday...
Good luck to you as well,
Michele

My date is Wednesday, too!
How was this past week - have you been following your pre-op diet? My surgeon had me on low/no carbs and in 6 days I lost 6lbs.
Good luck!!!

I love the idea of keeping in touch and cheering each other on! You've already lost 21 pounds! Good for you! My weight has not dropped off like I would like. In fact, I've wondered over the last few days if the doctor really created a pouch or just poked around and left everything the way it was - trying to see if I'd lose weight through the psychological belief that I have a smaller stomach. I'm sure that's not really the case, but I'm really not down but about 10 pounds. I've lost about 17 overall, but I THINK I lost some of it before surgery. I guess I just have to keep up the meds, and the walking, and the smaller portions.
Dr still has me on a liquid diet with 2 oz of protein every hour and 6 oz of "hydrating fluid" every 15 minutes for the rest of the hour. I'm having trouble getting in the protein because I want to have a meal (even if just soup) AT MEALTIME - not just a little each hour. Any suggestions? I go for my 3 week on Wednesday of next week and hope to be cleared to have "fork tender" foods.
I do not think of you as a baby - just smart. I am still milking the inability to lift items but the restriction on driving was too much. The teaching part is a little tough just because I'm constantly worried that I will need the bathroom!
Let me know how you're doing! Happy healing!

Hey! Another Tuesday, August 9th-er here! I can't believe you went back to work on the 18th! I'm such a baby. I have a desk job but reported to work just this week for half-days only.
My pouch has done really well. I started on supplements right away. They are yucky, but I take them religiously.
Let's keep in touch with each others' progress and cheer each other on!

Surgery is just a few days away now (8/29)! I can't believe it. Starting to get pretty nervous though...

You can do it!! And it will be worth it. I just had surgery on the 8/15. It has been good. I just have to make sure I get all my protein in. I know that I'm only a week old on this but I'm so glad that I did it. I left the hospital and am no longer on my insulin. For that, it was worth it! I will be praying for you.
