Hey all,
My name is Eileen and I live in New Jersey. On Nov 24, 2008 I had WLS and my life has been completely transformed. I want to wish you all as much success and more, than I have had in the last 9 months and offer you my hand to hold if you need it. I also want to offer you a very special garment to wear during your hospital stay.

If you go to my homepage on OH and look at the pics under "Surgery" you will sort of see it. The best shots are of me and my Doc and the one when I am leaving the hospital. My BMI was a 63 and so I am hoping that women whose BMI is around 60 may fit in it appropriately. That said I am 5'9" and was approx. 420lbs the day of surgery.

My sister and I made a hospital gown for me so that when I had to get up and walk my gargantuan dariaire would not be exposed for all the world to watch. I also wanted something comfortable and easily accessible for the doctor to check my stitches. It is a 4x. It has snaps down the front and at the shoulder so it is very easy to get on with all the tubes and wires that are attached to us right after surgery. It is a fuschia "housecoat" or if you prefer "Mumu!" It has now become a traveling garment as it has been used by several of your surgery sistas - fellow travelers that are trudging the road to a happier destiny.

I am writing a book about the traveling muumuu- a book of hope about real women who made the courageous decision.

There are only two stipulations for receiving this special "traveling support network garment" : #1 you must sign it with something inspriational for the next recipient, along with your name and where you are from (I am hoping to send it around th world if possible) and #2 You need to take a photo of yourself in the Muumuu while in the hospital and send it along with a  short writing about yourself. Who you are, what your life was like before your surgery and what made you decide to have the surgery. I need you to send the photo and info back to me with the garment within a week of your return home so that I can send it out again.

I will be contacting you on your six month surgiversary and one year anniversary to collect a little bit more info from you about the beginning of your journey to a healthier life. So keep a journal and share your experience, strength and hope with the thousands of obese woman who are struggling with the decision of whether or not to take the courageous first step towards freedom.

Let me know if you are interested and I will put it in the mail today.

Blessing and peace to you,
Your fellow WLS traveler...Eileen

Waiting on a call from the hospital. They might be able to let me pay half before and make payments on the other half. Thats a load off my mind if it happens.

My surgery is on the 17th also. I'm terrified! Terrified of dying and of life on the other side.

Hi, I'm scheduled for VSG on 8/10/09 too! Don't know much about the lap band but there are plenty of good posts here on these threads.

God bless and see you on the loser's bench

Hey ladies...I'm 8/10/09 scheduled for VSG with Dr. Ed Yatco at Lenox Hill Hospital. This is so exciting.,..yes, I'm nervous too.

Dr. Yatco only required one day pre-op for liquid diet, but I'm going to start my own. This week smaller portions and more water. Next week will start protein drinks and 1 meal daily.

God bless you both on this journey and I'll see you on that loser's bench!
