Plain raw veggies were "free" for me. They saved my life.

If I was ever hungry I would practice taking my really small bites on a carrot.

Hi, Jennifer.  I am fairly new as well but my good friend, Lisa, who had lap band surgery 8 months ago, swears by this site as a place to meet others and get the information you need to learn to live our new life.

My lap-band surgery is on the 10th. I'll be thinking of you - an all of us.

Good luck.

Anyone else having band surgery on Monday?  How is the prep going?  What are your post-surgical instructions like?

Good luck!

Hello - My lap band surgery is on August 10th out here on the Left Coast in Seattle (I lived in NJ for 11 years - does that count?)  Our world view will change with this surgery; it is life up to now and then life ever after.  As the day approaches, it is like there is a little crack with light shining through that keeps widening...

Good luck, everyone.

Had lap band on 04AUG. Surgery took a little bit longer than planned (2+ hours) but so far, so good. Worst part so far is the gas, getting some Gas X today so hopefully that will help.

Good luck those of you who are yet to come this month!

Hey Kristin, just two weeks to go, you are half way there!  Protein takes your hunger away more than anything else.  Get in am much as you can.  If you get some non flavored protein powder, you can mix it into sugar free jello or broth or skim milk.  You will need to do this after your surgery also.  Try to stay away from protein shakes that are more than 10 grams of sugar and less than 14 grams of protein.  The importance of the protein is so when you really start loosing weight, you will loose fat and not muscle.  That is important.  Congratulations on your choice to have a happier healthier life, and I know you will!

Just had my lapband on 04AUG, and had the same situation. I just kept telling myself how much I wanted this, and knew that if I didn't play by the rules, I would regret it. I managed to lose about 25 pounds in the pre-op phase, which is a nice start.

My best recommendation? Lots of water. I usually squeezed fresh lemon in mine.

Good luck!
