I will be joining the 18th club as well. I am new to this site and am so glad I joined. I am having the gastric bypass. I am nervous as well, but not about the surgery. I still can't imagine that I will be losing weight! But WE WILL DO IT!!!! I have no doubt! Hang in there with the liquid diet. I plan on spending the weekend cleaning, preparing, and staying busy. Good luck everyone!

I don't have an answer for you, but wanted to empathize... on my 1st and 2nd day of liquids I honestly felt like I had the stomach bug. By about 3 or 4 pm, I was clammy and nauseous, and had to go take a nap. It did occur to me, however, that I was putting too much protein in at one time. If I spread my shakes out, drinking clear liquids inbetween, it stopped bothering me.
Either that, or my body just got used to not needing to churn and digest... hard to say!

Topic: Two week liquid diet - pre-op??
I am scheduled for my surgery on August 26th. I just started my two week liquid diet on Wed 8/12. I am only on day three but every afternoon my stomach starts getting upset. Almost like when you have a stomach bug and all you want is a piece of toast. Anyone know what I can do to make this better?

Hello all! I had my Laproscopic RNY on Aug 5th and I am 10 days out. My surgery went very smoothly, and I thank God for that! I stayed over night in the hospital and came home around 3pm the next day. My first few days were very difficult for me. I was extremely uncomfortable, unable to do anything but sit in my recliner chair, and shuffle around a little bit. As time has gone by, though, I feel better each day. (And yes, the gas does go away!) I have gotten out of the house a few times, I go for walks in the evenings, and of course, get all of my protein, liquids and vitamins in. I am so grateful for this site and all of the supportive people and helpful information on it!

I am also scheduled for August 26th. My presurgery appoitment is next Thursday August 20th. Is anyone else on the two week liquids prior to surgery??

Everyone here at work knows I'm have gastric bypass surgery! Of course some wish I weren't but that is too bad.

I have August 26th. too! I didn't truly believe it would happen until yesterday when I got my appointments for pre admissions testing....which is this Tuesday, the 18th. It's REALLY going to happen! I'm having an open RNY and I am both scared and excited, too. I hope I make it. I've been through c-sections and open heart surgery..... but this scares me the most!

Hi! I have my lap band done on the 20th as well. I'm 5 days into a 10 day liquid diet but I think my body is starting to adjust. Today hasn't been that bad. I have learned that when I have creamed soups not to dilute them. It's so much thicker that it feels like your eating more and it holds me over for at least a couple of hours.
