Topic: RE: A reminder for all of those with nerves... WHY...
Great post!
- I want to be able to fit comfortably in a regular seat for transatlantic flights
- I want to have more options for work clothing (any clothing, really!)
- I want to be around for my daughter when she gets older
- I want to run and play soccer again
- I want to be able to walk in a hurry and not sweat and be out of breath
- I want to wear a really great trench coat next spring (superficial, I know!)

Topic: RE: Two week liquid diet - pre-op??
Hi, I am Nancy. I had the gastric bypass surgery on August 10th. I didn't seem to have a problem with the liquid diet. I would drink my protein for bkfst then would drink water or eat sf jello between. It seemed to work out okay. I was very deterined to do things the right way. I have a family member that already had the surgery but did what she wanted to do without any regard to the liquid diet and she had many problems. On the liquid diet I lost 20 pounds before my surgery and the surgeon said that my operation was easy. I have been home for 6 days and I am doing excellent. Just do what the professionals tell you to do. It may be a little hard, but you can do it.

I think for every person you ask the answer you receive will be very individual.
I happen to be an open person and agree with you that it is just easier to tell the truth.
That being said, if I sensed someone was asking me and they were going to be negative I would also say diet and exercise.
Ultimately, for myself, I view my obesity as a treatable illness and I am 100% comfortable with the choice I am making-to be open about having the Lapband.
The only thing that would stop me from telling people is my fear of failure and being watched but maybe that's a good thing because I will have the onus of not looking like a jerk to them and myself.
Whatever you decide just feel comfortable with it. I have a friend who's had RNY and will swear till her death bed that she didn't.
All the best!
Sharon

CONGRATS!!! THATS AMAZING!!!![](http://images.obesityhelp.com/_shared/images/smiley/msn/clap.gif)
I know that I shouldn't have....BUT today I weighted myself and in 6 days lost 4.5 pounds. While I am happy about it I was hoping for a bigger number. I guess I won't know for sure until my weigh in b4 surgery next thursday!

Topic: RE: surgery date 8/24/09
SURGERY DATE IS GETTING SO CLOSE. HAVE LOST 13.50 POUNDS ON THE OPTI FAST LOOKING FOR MORE WEIGHT TO FALL OFF.
Topic: RE: TO Share Or NOT to share.... that is the question
Luckily the weight loss will only be a couple of pounds a week. I've been going to W W long enough to know that 2 lbs a week is considered a healthy loss. I plan to tell them that I'm eating smaller portions and exercising 5 days a week. It's the absolute truth!
