Are you stopping the drinking before you eat?
I've been having similar sensations (I'm a week behind you), and I find that I'm not always "sipping", so sometimes even the fluids are backing up. When it comes time for my protein shake, there's nowhere for it to go, and I have had some terrible fullness and chest pain with nausea. Just a thought. (Man, an egg sounds good right now. Next week for me!)

Topic: Home from Surgery

I came home today. I really could've come home yesterday except I didn't have any gas or bowel movement until today. My back is more sore than anything else on my body even my incisions which is weird. Let me tell you somehting though, when I was thirsty I drank an entire 1 oz glass of water and it was too much too fast. I thought I was gonna puke. So now I know better. slow slow slow

Topic: Had my surgery on Monday

I had my surgery on Monday. I am slowly feeling better but still have alot of pain. I feel like I'm full of air when I walk and that's even more painful. The liquid diet is hard. I'm bored of just drinking. I want real food but will stick to the diet. It's alot harder than I thought it would be.

Any diet suggestions?

How was your surgery (mine was aug 12)? How are you feeling now?
I had no problems at all, and I'm feeling quit good. Course I lost weight, in total I think it is about 12 kilo (26,5 lbs).
How are your hungry feelings? It changed after surgery didn't it?
Hope you're doing well.

I wouldn't shave at least 2 days prior to surgery. It is true that shaving has been linked to surgical infections. We longer "shave" prior to surgery we use electric clippers instead. All hospitals are suppose to be using clippers and not razors.

Well, I went to the nutritionist yesterday and we went over all the do's and don'ts and then she told me I needed 77 grams of protein a day..Man that sounds like a lot of drinking. Then Dr. Balder's office called me this afternoon to schedule me an appointment with him. I am going September 3rd. I reminded them yesterday I do not want my surgery until October since I am going to California in September to visit my daughter and she telling the buffet she wants to take me to is 50.00 a person. I want to be able to eat that 50 dollars worth of food and not just a tablespoon full. I know that sounds bad but it is the way I feel. So how is everyone? Hope all is well and surgeries are GREAT!

Topic: RNY Monday!

Day 6 of my pre op liquid diet! It's still not great but doable. I 've been having 3 protein shakes a day, SF Jello and cup of broth with seasoning. One thing I've noticed is that I have a persistant sweet taste in my mouth. I have attributed to that most liquids seem to be sweet! Is there anyone else who's noticed this and have any suggestions? Really looking forward to Monday 8/31
