I have a question for anyone that has recently had surgery. I am 4 weeks post op, and for the last 8-9 days I have not lost any weight and am in between 2-3 pounds going up and down. Has this happened to anyone else? If so, what did you do to overcome it, and did your weight start coming off again? Thank you in advance!!!

Take heart that you are not the only one experiencing this. I had my surgery 17 days ago. I lost 13 punds the first week, but have only lost 4.5 in the last 10 days. I thought that seemed odd, but everyone is saying "just hang tight, your body has just undergone major surgery and is adjusting." I hope your weight loss picks up...and mine too!!

same here, I am 4 weeks post op and my weight loss has slowed from 3 lbs a week to just barely a lb this week. I also started solids last week though and I think my body needs some time to recover from those big losses the weeks previous.

I actually signed on tonight to post the exact same question. I lost 20lbs my first week and 1/2 now I'm on my 3rd week and have not lost. I'm fluctuating between 2lbs. I wasn't worried until I went an entire week and did not lose. I'm hoping this is normal!!!

I am 3 wks post op with an band, my weight loss has slowed but from my research that is common as the swelling around the band decreases, our appetites increase even just a bit, and being post op I have not returned to my regular activity level yet.  So I would venture a guess the body is recovering you are taking in less then before and you activitiy is down some as you recover, well that makes your body hold the nutriants for healing.

Hope this helps,
Mona

Same thing is happening to me.  The scales will go down again.  I am not going to worry about and stay off the scale.

You WILL lose again! I lost 15 pounds my first week after coming home from surgery.  Then only 2 more pounds the second week.  The surgeon was not concerned.  Then I had a 4 week follow up and during that time I had gained weight and lost a couple pounds.  All told, I went back the surgeon and had only lost  2 pounds in those 2 weeks.  They were still not concerned.

Rest assured it was not until last week that my weight lost actually started again!  I did not change really anything, but make sure you are getting all of your protein in!

Same here!!! I lost 30 pounds the first month and have stalled alot. I have to say that I think I'm not eating enough protein. Second the only think that gets me out of a stall, is to get my butt moving! I do also go up a lb here and there. And I'm in only down 7 lbs since the last doctors appt at 4 weeks. But I'm just going add more protein and see where this venture take me.
