I have been doing the protein shakes for breakfast and/or dinner. My lunch is just a regular meal but I use good judgement. I believe the protein makes me not as hungry and it's helped me to lose weight.

Good luck to you and I wish you the best for your surgery.

I'm also on the semi liquid diet.  I have a shake for breakfast and one for dinner. I eat 3 to 5 oz of chicken breast grilled with cooking spray and a package of mushrooms.  The mushrooms really shrink down. I cut up 2 carrots and 1 cucumber and one apple...it's very filling and very low in calories.

I use the Trader Joe's brand Protein powder it has one carb I add:

1/2 cup of plain fat free yogurt
1.5 cup of berries mixed  or pineapple tidbits frozen (Trader Joe's has the best prices)
2 cups of ice
1 cup of ff milk or lactaid
2 packs of sugar substitute
2 scoops protein powder

or

2 cups ice
1/2 cup ff plain yogurt (optional)
1 large or 2 small bananas
2 tablespoons of cocoa powder (not nesquick the sugar free kind)
1 cup of ff milk or lactaid
1/2 cup of water
2 packs of sugar substitute or more if needed
2 scoops protein powder

blended... These come to about 32 oz and have less than 400 cal each, and the lunch is less than 700 calories which brings u to about 1500 calories a day....I've been losing like crazy by following this diet.

These are awesome and very filling...I keep myself busy by talking on the phone surfing the net, sleeping, and I also walk 45 minutes a day it's about 6 laps...you do what you can and at the pace that's right for you. I also have a sauna suit, I bought at wal-mart for $8 they have up to 2x and I'm pretty big the top fits good but the bottoms are tight but i make it work. I put that on and dance for half hour with fast paced music. The sauna suit will make you sweat like crazy.  It's hard to get myself to do these things but once u see the pounds start to come off u will be so pumped....I have a husband who loves to eat but is thin and it's been hard but I want to be healthy and SEXY!!! So that's what keeps me going...and believe me I have a major addiction to food.  I also watch anything I can on weight loss...biggest loser. Big Medicine stuff like that....Good luck and let me know if this helps!!!

I would try working on the liquid pre-op diet now if you could, those 7 lbs will melt away.

I understand how you feel.  I had to lose 10 lbs and I did it and once I lost the first 12 my doc. said I had to lose an additional 10 more to have the surgery I really wanted.  So I used the Leslie sandsones walking tape.  She does a mile in about 15 min. and it is a power walk dvd with the three mile work out. you can modify how many miles you want to walk. I weighed in on a Friday and by that tuesday I had loss 7lbs with the liquid meal substitutes.  Good luck on your surgery I will get my surgery date today when the doctor reviews my charts and I lost 19 pounds with that walking tape in a month.

Hi,

I've been on the Bariatric Advantage meal replacement liquid preop diet and my weight is down 9 pounds since Saturday.  I am allowed 2 cups of veggies a day.
