Also on August 3
Hello, All. I recently found this site and forum, but have never posted. My surgery date -- for RNY -- is next Monday, August 3. I'm feeling a bit of anxiety (mostly of the positive kind), but much less so about the surgery than about the huge changes in lifestyle and behavior that this surgery will require. Nevertheless, I'm looking forward to the day.
I live in Western North Carolina, near Asheville, My surgery will be done at Mission Hospital by Christopher Edwards.
I've been astounded -- and delighted -- by the many resources available on the Web, and I've started tapping into them. It's impressive how many people are blogging about their surgeries: pre-op and post-op, and I'm finding these helpful and inspirational. How much harder it must have been for someone having WLS 10 years ago, before many of these tools were available. It must have been a much lonelier experience.
I look forward to both learning and sharing on this site. Best wishes to anyone having his or her surgery next week.

Hi,
I had my RNY on 08.03.09 also. Im in Charlotte. How did it go for you? Mine was great. No complications or issues at all. I feel great qnd am just waiting to get out of her this evening. Overall, it has been a great experience and I'm looking forward to joining the "loser's bench". I hope all goes well for you.

Hello, Janice. My RNY on 08.03.09 went beautifully, I'm happy to say. I came home yesterday afternoon and this is my first full day at home. I haven't experienced any problems, but I am having difficulty getting my 60 g of protein, since I'm only supposed to drink 4 or so ounces of my protein shake at a time. So far the biggest challenge has been keeping my two puppies from jumping up on the bed onto my stomach!
I'm suppose to say on "full liquids" for a month, and then move on to soft/pureed foods. I have an appointment in a week with my surgeon to have my drain tube removed, and another appointment in three weeks to check in with my nutritionist.
Best wishes for your recovery.
