Got my surgery date FINALLY!

I wanted to send out a little hello to everyone.  I started this process years ago but finally got insurance approval about a month ago.  My bariatric center kept dropping the ball on giving me a surgery date but I finally got one today.

I go in for a RNY on Aug 5th.  I had originally planned to get the lapband and even thought the paperwork they sent to the insurance company requested approval for the lapband but I guess they messed up and it was sent in for RNY.  During the process of waiting for an approval I did more research and had decided against the band.  I guess it was all in the cards and meant to be to get the RNY.  Thanks for messing up Western Bariatrics.  LOL!

That is awsome and I kinda have the same story....I have my date set for Aug. 4th and I was originally going to get the RNY and then changed my mind and thought that my surgery rep changed the surgeries to the band and after long thought and communications I have decided against the lapband. I had already had my date when i called so i was thinking 'great now i will probly get a new date' but noone changed my surgery type so I am now getting the RNY like I FINALLY  decided on. YAY!

I started my 'stop smoking' efforts this past Monday... it has been a struggle.  I have had about 4 cigarettes in 6 days... that is one heck of an improvement from the 20+ per day! 

You can do it!  You are having surgery to change your life...  might as well change all of it, right?

See, I think these things happen for a reason.  Of course now nobody has listened to me say that I want to just stick with the RNY, because I just got an approval letter for the lapband in the mail from the insurance company.  Uggghhh, I think they dont communicate with each other in the office.  Whatever!  LOL!  It will all work out.

Congrats on your surgery date and good luck with the smoking part.  I dont smoke but my hubby does and I know that  it is a struggle everyday.

...I bet you are relieved! Congrats on your surgery date. On August 5th I go to my Pre-op class and get my info and stuff for surgery. I'm so happy for you, my journey began in January,seems like forever but now Im here, along with you!
wheeeew! here we go!

Well thanks guys.  I know alot of us have had long journeys to get to this point but the wait was worth it!  I am getting more excited the closer it gets.  Of course I am starting my liquid diet tomorrow so we will see how excited I am after that.    LOL!

How's the liquid diet going? I start mine on the 31st. I'm actually looking forward to it but I think its because that means I'm getting closer to my surgery date.

Ummmm, I am starving.  LOL!  I have a headache and I am pretty tired.  Other than that, life is great  LOL!  I hear it gets easier so all I can do is hang on.  I read the forum alot last night so I could keep my mind off food.  Just trying to keep busy.  It is exciting once you hit the pre-op diet because it starts to become more real but it is still torture.  LOL!
