Surgery August 21st, 2009 - anyone else?

Hello all!  I just got my surgery date yesterday I am having RNY on August 3rd. Seems like a long way away but then I thought it is only about 5 weeks away and I still have stuff to get ready and  then  there is the dreaded 2 week pre-op diet so really I only have 3 weeks to go........sort of....lol. P.S. I live in Colorado

I'm glad you have a date!  I'm also glad my doctor is only putting me on the liquid diet for 2 days.  Of course there is that dreaded 'bowel cleansing'!  Oh well, it will be worth it.  Congratulations on your date!  We are all in this together!

UGHHHH, the dreaded bowel cleanse; At least we will be all cleaned out!! flush all that build up from over the years,down the drain! Cheesesteaks, chips, and twinkies that I heard never fully get broken down inside you LMFAO etc..LOL

yea i have to do the 2 week liquids. That is going to be a long 2 weeks!! I am up for the challenge tho. Only because i know it is to get ready for the new me. If i can't make it through the 2 weeks before then i don't need to be going through it. LOL. I have started mentally preparing myself for it and preparing my family. I think they will be the hardest to get over the fact i won't be eating like i used to.

I'm glad you have a positive attitude.  I believe some of this is attitude and if you start out with a strong positive attitude, I think you get farther before those 'bad tapes' start playing.  Hopefully by the time they start, you are already on your way to a better, healthier body and feel good enough to take you through to the end.  I hope the momentum I have right now gets me through the first year post-op.  I am ready for a 'new me' also!

August 18 baby, yeah!

Hello all..

I'm having RNY Gastric Bypass August 4th here in Charlotte, NC. I have looked and looke on this board for other august dates and FINALLY I saw a post! I have known my date since may, and so I guess other people don't find out until closer to their date. My surgeon is popular I guess!

anyway...KCropper!!! I grew up in Lewisburg!!! small world. I was just there to visit my mom two weeks ago!!

anyway I hope all of you are doing well! I start my liquid diet July 21st!!

I have known about my date since the end of May - the Friday before the Memorial Day holiday weekend.  I believe it makes it harder to know so far in advance, but then again, it gives you more time to get prepared and to read and research and ask questions.  Good Luck on your surgery.  So far everyone that I've read who is having surgery in August is before me - but I'll be right there with you come the 21st of August!

Yeah, I agree. I feel like the time has gone by somewhat slowly, but I was a bit relieved because I am a nursing mother, and I will be able to nurse longer. I am weaning my daughter in a couple of weeks before I start the liquid diet. Like you said abou the reading and researching..I've done that for a long time! Now I'm ready to get the show on the road!! I pray everything goes well with your surger! I grew up in Ky, and love that place!!!

I too am having the RNY By-pass....I go Aug. 12th for pre-op and should have surgery within 2-3 weeks after! VERY EXCITED!! Hope all goes well for everyone going before me.....looking forward to this journey to a new me!
