Topic: Pump me up-I am freaking
I am having surgery 8/12/08. I have been anxiously waiting on this day only hoping it was sooner. Now it is here and I am so anxious and nervous and I lost all the excitement I had before. Did anyone else feel this way and how do I get in the mood I was before when this was all I ever thought about and needed. Why am I so nervous. I have been eating like a pig and don't know what to do with myself. I keep reading about the surgery to prepare for the recovery but nothing is helping. I need to hear from some people who can reassure me all the great things that are to come that I am having trouble visualizing. I should be soo happy yet I am so confused and scared! Please help! I am having this surgery no matter what I just want to be in a better frame of mind before I go to the hospital.

Topic: New to OH and have my Surgery Date!
Hello all! I have been a long time lurker, and finally decided to go for WLS. I followed all your great advice and received my insurance approval very quickly! Just 5 days after jumping through all the hoops. It took me about 6 weeks to get all my tests and consultations done and about one week of tracking down the doctors that were a bit slow in sending the reports to my surgeon. So from my first visit to my surgeon on May 30th, I had my approval the last week of July. My surgery date is August 29th! and Im on my last week or so before I go on my liquid pre-op diet. I decided to go with the Lap-Band mainly because the RNY seems like such a major overhaul of my plumbing! I believe I made the correct choice an my surgeon agrees. But Im sure Im the norm since I'm quite nervous that I made the right choice. Hopeing that the Band will help me lose the weight.. Hopeing that all will go well (this is my first surgery in my 38 years)... Hoping that the band doesn't slip or cause complications that will require it to come out etc... Anyway's Im here to intoduce myself and offer any guidance on the insurance hurdles that I found to be able to navigate quite easily. Kindest Regards, Rob

CONGRATULATIONS on the success with the before diet that is a biggie!!! We are on our way to a great new beginning, Head hunger, Sugar addict, caffine addict, lol cookies and candy addict.... I wonder how much is head hunger and how much of it is detoxing the body of all the Stuff !!! I To have suffered head hunger and cravings, and as you said the High Protein Low Carb diet before surgery has really helped me to get all of that out of my system..I had given up the soda, diet and regular. as well as all the other stuff mentioned above with a lot of effort I have only lost 6 lbs. But I sure have improved my eating style..My surgery is Aug 13th I am a day behind you...so be watching for you Barb I

My surgery was a few days before my birthday. Since July 28th I've lost 20 pounds and can fit into clothes that I haven't worn in months. What a great present we gave ourselves!
