Topic: RE: 6 mo. supervised diet
I just switched insurance companies and the new one requires 6 mos. medically supervised diet.  I saw my Doctor in August and will see him in September.  I'm so glad I read you informtion about making sure these appointments are at least a month apart.  Thanks for the good info.
I'm on track to have WLS in January or Feb 09.
Thanks
Nancy

Hi Aimee,

If it weren't for my gas pains, I wouldn't of had anything to complain about..LOL  I had gastric surgery on 8/25/08.  I also used the Gas-X strips once I got home and I also put Bene-fiber in one protein shake per day.  This should help you.  Good luck!!

Topic: Now I know what they meant...

The whole time I went through bariatric classes (6 months worth) and my doctor continuously pushed having a good support system regarding surgery and weight loss.  Yesterday I blew it.  I took 4 bites of an avocado.  I am still supposed to be on soft foods but the ones my doc said I could have were yogurt, eggs, and cottage cheese.  I paid for it dearly.   My tummy hurt for over an hour.   My tummy may be different but my head is still the same and I know I need to work on this bigtime.  It's interesting that when I was reading the boards (usually on the california boards) I thought about eating different things but it really wasn't a big deal.  I have went back to work and have been forgetting the Protein drinks here and there.  Never did that while I was hanging out on this site either.  Sooooo,  I have came to the conclusion that I need to hang out a little more on this site for the support.  Anyone else feel the same way?

I had some gas pain in the first week but to be honest I think I have more now with eating the cottage cheese, yogurt, and eggs part of the diet if I don't walk a bit after eating.   I think it is completely normal.   Good luck!

It will pass... Mine has gotten alot better... but the wierd thing is the spot that itches the most isn't even where there was an incision lol... I am just using a moisturizing lotion.

Sorry it took so long for me to get back to you.   I have been working alot.  The support band was what they put around my tummy after surgery.   Kinda looks like those back support belts only it doesn't have the over the shoulder straps.   Kinda felt like a girdle when I first wore it but it sure felt better than not for the first few days after surgery.

My doctor told me at 1 month out I could start adding tuna, cantelope, cooked shrimp (not fried).  He told me to remember to chew very well.  I had the RNY.  Hope these choices can add some choices for you.

Yeah, I see it posted already but the Gas-X strips work, and WALKING.  That also helps you recover faster and keeps your chances for blood clots down.  So walk walk walk as much as you can.

That gas should pass in the next few days.  I think mine was gone by a week out.

I lost 12 pounds in the first 9 days after surgery.  But just remember everyone loses at a different rate.  Don't dwell on the scales.  I try not to weigh daily but every 2 or 3 days.  If not i would obsess over it.  Just be happy in the fact that you are losing and take inspiration from that.  Best of luck!
