Topic: RE: Esophogeal Stricture after Gastric Bypass
I had a stricture, but I did not know it until seven weeks.

i had leaking, and was in hospital a week after going home for a few days.

I could not drink more than 8 oz a day, and it hurt to eat. I just thought it was normal.

The doctor said to not wait, for the dilation. They said that they normally did a maximum of
three for people to get the thing fixed.

It was a shock to me, but the dilation was easy and worked well.

Small things matter.  You never know what you missed until you realize the difference it makes in the everyday workings of life.

I went to work last night and we have those tiny little office chairs with the arms on them.  Normally when I sit down I can feel my hips slide into the chair... Not last night... I sat down and got up without touching either side of my body.   May not be alot to some people but I was happily shocked!!!

Hi Wendy, there seems to be conflicting advice abut whether sleevers need the protein as much as the bypassers do...my nut. is huge on me having protein 60g-80g per day, its wuite challenging getting that much in most days. I believe it helps you lose fat rather than muscle in this intial period of rapid weight loss...takes longer to process so you feel full longer....

Topic: RE: 5 Weeks Post Surgery Questions and Worries
Hi Wendy, I'm sleeved too and the weight loss has been good some weeks and non-existent others. I think this is normal ?? I ahve the same concerns as you, that i am eating to ofast and too much sometimes, guess its a big learning curve and will take a while to get used to the new way of eating.I'm finding it hard to get all the water in each day, I'm sure thats not doing me any favours.
And  I worry I'm going to strech my new little ummy too !!

Topic: RE: Should I tell people at work about my operation?
Hi Wendy, I'm like you, I havent told anyone at work and I dont intend to either. I can;t stand the thought of them gossiping about me behind my back and listening to all their ignorant comments about WLS and wwight issues, I think the only people that really understand are those that have walked in our shoes. I feel really self conscious eating so slowly and such a small amount (I'm 6 weeks out) in front of my work colleagues. I just tell them I am trying to improve my eating habits cause I'm seeing a nutritionist who says to eat slowly and healthier.

thanks guys its good to know that i am not the only one.  i am slowly feeling better though i am having a really hard time getting all my protien and fluids in.  have to work harder at that i guess!  have only gotten sick once so far which i am grateful for.  i am still having a little trouble with driving.  the muscle around where my hernia was that they discovered hurts if i drive too long.  but other than that i am feeling alot better!
