1 wk post op and hungry? or head hungry?
1 wk post op here and very relieved to hear others dreamed of food. I have no hunger at all, am eating because I must, even my family has not bothered me. But I dreamed I was at a covered dish dinner and I loaded my plate with all carbs...it was insane. And as I sat there and ate, someone said I thought you had RNY surgery and then I was horrified and felt sick,,,then I woke up....So the head is playing with us........ cause like I said...no hunger here. What I miss is the textures and tastes right now...........sick of the crystal light taste (they all have the same after taste) but I am not having problems following the rules. Will be glad when soft/pureed foods are allowed.
Keep up the good work everyone

The hunger feeling IS REAL...your tummy still thinks it needs food b/c there is a hormone in the stomach that is still at work. I felt the same after surgery and I know for sure it was NOT head hunger...so I called the nurse and she told me yes you can still feel hungry after surgery. I don't feel hungry anymore that only lasted about a week and now I'm totally fine.
Dont be upset! 6 weeks after my surgery now. I definitely have had hunger pangs at times. At one point, think it was around week 3-4 it lasted a week (same time as my period) and I ended up snacking on small mouthfuls all day. Really weird but that passed. In weeks 5 and 6, I havent been bothered with food at all, would rather have gone without but forcing myself to eat for energy. I think my taste buds have changed, some things I used to love before, taste different now. Have had a few sips of wine and it tastes like vinegar so probably a good thing as I have lost interest in any alcohol (not that I had much before surgery but used to enjoy a couple of glasses or wine, once or twice a week).
