I am having my lap band tomorrow...August 7th, 2008 YEAH!!!! I started my journey in October 2007 with attending a seminar. I had 6 months of counseling with a dietician and my internist before my insurance would approve the surgery. I'm excited to start my new life, but it's a little un-nerving - even though I believe I am well prepared. I practice taking my "small-sips" and I've tried the different proteins to select my favorites. I know tonight was not the "last-supper" and in a few weeks I will be able to eat "normal" food again (not liquified, mushified, etc.) so...wish me luck!

Congrats on having your surgery date. It took me 10 months to get approval from my insurance. I had to meet with a dietician and my doctor monthly for 6 months so I thought I was ready. On the day of my surgery, I was really nervous...not so much about the procedure, but how different my life would be afterwards. It is scary to make this kind of commitment. While my family is still enjoying the foods that they like, right now I am on a liquid diet. For me, it is a really strange I eat my broth with added unflavored Unjury and I am so full after about 2-3 ounces that I feel like I have just left an all you can eat buffet. I'm not really craving food like I did before the procedure..just remember that the liquid and mushy diet is a part of the healing process. I had the lapband on Aug 7, 08..so I am only 6 days post op and I have lost 8 pounds. So far, I feel great - my energy level has returned. I have a little soreness around the surgical incisions, but I have not taken anything for the pain for 3 days. My blood pressure is good and my glucose is normal..I have no regrets because I know I'm starting my new "beginning" - a healthier me. Please let me know how you are doing. Best Wishes.
