My surgery was 23 July (RNY). Every day since then I drink a "protein bullet" from GNC. It has 45g protein and is not a huge volumn of liquid. I have been taking biotin for a month and believe my nails have improved somewhat, hopefully this helps holds thehair in. I had gall bladdar several year ago and was very ill, and had NO hair loss from that. I'm not sure protein is the full story on keeping the hair in place. Best of luck to you!
Hi, I had gastric bypass three years ago. I also lost some hair, but not too much. Eventually, my hair filled out again, but I have heard of people losing more. Be sure you are getting as much protein as possible. Let your doctor know about this. My doctor had all his patient's see a nutritionist. This is a valuable asset to help you.
Unjury was the best tasting protein powder in my opinion. It can be found online. It dissolves very well and tastes good too. Also, mixing powdered milk in your soups etc. I made my chicken like baby food. Tuna is good too if you like it. I also mixed sugar free jello in my cottage cheese to help the taste. If your doctor allows eggs with cheese, these work well too. If you begin to be constipated from all the protein, ask your doctor about a stool softener. Chew your food very well, and eating a meal should take at least 15-20 minutes. I used a timer to help me with this. Of course, every doctor is different. This is what mine recommended. I also could not drin****il 30 minutes after I ate my meal. This was the toughest part for me.
It does get better. People told me that and it was just hard for me to believe at the time. Emotionally, I went through alot to adapt to the changes. For some reason, I felt like I was never going to be able to eat normally again, and that is just not the case! Good luck to you, and God bless you. I was blessed enough to lose over 100 pounds. The trick is keeping it off now! Hang in there. You can do it!
