Has anyone experienced a dilated pouch? What happens? I have to go this week and have a barium swallow to see if mine is dilated, plus a possible hiatel hernia.

HI I am 8 years post op and recently had an EGD(Endoscopy) and found out my pouch is severly dilated. It can be from a host of problems and the most immediate concern is a hernia. they thought in the beginning that I had a hernia but I didn't. The statistics say nearly 40% of Gastric Bypass patients have dilated pouches and stomas. I am sorry to tell you this. Ronit

I had my test yesterday, no hernia, but the pouch and my esophagus are dilated. I had the doctor in the Radiology dept call my doctor, and my doctor had me immediately come to her office to be unfilled. I am on liquids for two days and than regular food. I go back in six weeks to start all over again. The dilation can be cause be overeating or being to restricted. The doctor removed 6 ml of fluid.
