Topic: And the struggle goes on...
OK.  So, here is the truth.  I am starting to gain weight, not a huge amount, just a half pound here, a quarter pound there, first to 135, now 138.  No big deal, right now, so far, but if that half pound and quarter pound keep agoin, yuppers, it will be a problem.    I am not eating any more...ok...well, maybe I am.  BUT, you know what?  NO poor mes here.  Gonna get up OFF my booty, cut out the carbs, drink my protein and water and WALK.  This RNY is a tool, not a cure.  COME ON MY FRIENDS.  I know some of you do not post on here because you are gaining, or struggling.    GET OVER IT, get busy.  WE CAN, and WE WILL TAKE CONTROL OF OUR BODIES, OUR MINDS, OUR HEALTH!  I am not perfect?  Are you?  We are all human, we all have the same struggle, so let's band together and we can overcome it.  Much love to all of you...and I am here if you need me.  I need all of you you know :)

Hi Everyone,  It's nice to see people still check in on this board!   Maribelm you and I had surgery on the same day.  Congrats on the new baby.  It must have been tough to lose while pregnant.  Just continue to follow the "rules"  and  I'm sure you will continue.  Even with the weight you have lost just think how much more you will be able to do with your children!  Kathleen, Tara, it's so nice to continue to hear from you too.  Tara you made me laugh when you signed your name "the fat one"  I guess we have all "settled" at a comfortable weight...now the challenge is to keep it there...sigh....there is always a challenge isn't there.  I am doing well.  It's so nice to be able to walk properly since I got my knees done.  I call myself the bionic woman.  Keep adding...and taking away parts.  I don't think I will be getting plastics though.  Too expensive.  I will just have to continue to hide the extra skin.  I got a dog a couple of weeks ago.  A cute little terrier.  Now I am getting out and walking more.  Her name is Cookie.  She is so cute and she is about the same size as my cat.  They get along well together.  My kids are doing well.  My son was laid off for a while but he is back to work thank goodness....he has 3 boys (8,4 and 3).  I hope you all stay well!  I love to hear from everyone.  Fran

Hey.. I thought I would check in also.. My surgery date was Aug 15 2006.  To date I have lost 209 pounds.. I got pregnant 4 months out..I lost 66 pounds while pregnant.. My baby was totally healthy.. He gets lots of colds though.. I work out 2-5 times a week, depending on whats going on that week.. Last month I was on the top 10 list, of who went to the gym the most..I have been stuck around 170 since Christmas.. thats with working out all the time.. I was going 5 days a wee****il March.. Last week I stepped on the scale and it said 166..YES! I feel like I eat a lot.. probably hit around 900-1300 calories a day.. I can't eat meat much.. my stomach hurts afterward.. sandwich meat is good.. my new fave food is subway.  I'm working on taking my vitamins regularly.. and am always hoping I never get fat again.. I started out 375.. and weigh 166 today.. I am having my wedding in 2 weeks..My dress is gorgeous.. and I'm not afraid for people to look at me anymore. When people ask me how did you lose the weight.. I say.. I am one of the lucky people, who got to have gastric bypass surgery.. I could not have done it without the surgery. Life is great being thin.. If only I could have known what it was like to have felt this way whenI was growing up....

Hi everyone!  How are you all doing?  I am doing well.  Got a huge promotion at work...am loving it.  My new Granddaughter is at seven pounds now and doing well.  As for my weight loss, I had my RNY almost two years ago.  I stay right around 135, never get over 140.  I would love to be 125 or 130, but for being an old Grandma and Mom of four kids, I cannot complain wearing a size 4 or 6.  I am starting to be able to eat choc. and more sugar (ugh) but so far am maintaining.  I am petrified to get big again.  Always worrying, weighing, too obsessed I think.  I miss all of you.  Take good care and much love!!

130lbs is a lot of weight to loose! You are doing amazing and coming out of a pregnancy at a lower weight then you started! That would probably not be possible without WLS! You are on the right track just keep going! You can do it!

  Hello Everyone,
I am doing ok. I overeat, but still manage to stay around 165 to 169. I wish I was where you guys are, but I am ok with this weight. Still for my height "overweight" though. (5'6")Everyone says I look good  - so who knows.I dump all the time, never puke anymore, Kathleen, maybe you have a stricture??? That's why I puked, but then I got it fixed and never lost any more weight. Can you believe I lost almost 100 lbs in 11 weeks then never lost any more....still seems crazy to me. My hair never did come back in very well, if you've seen my post, I had very long thick hair, it's still really thin and for some reason frizzy, it's weird. My family life is ok. It was my hubby and my 7th anniversary today, but I had to work all day. So, we went out for dinner. I couldn't eat much which is still good -  Because I sure eat a lot more all day than I should - but - I have never drank a pop since two weeks before surgery!!! My daughter that got married last July 4th is happy and doing well, we go to college together. (Algebra...it sucks...sorry) My autistic son is doing ok, and my middle son is always having difficulties, but not too bad - just failing some classes...:( No drugs or anything, yet. Oldest son works with kids with disabilities and is doing well - he's the one who weighs about 450 lbs. Sure wish he'd have surgery. But he won't. Kathleen, I am so happy for you, I would so love to have a grandbaby, Nia, Ill bet she is gorgeous, like you are. I love you guys for your efforts at keeping us together!!!! Please don't ever give up on us losers!!!Love to allThe fattest one - Tara

Hi Kathleen and Brenda,   I so sorry to hear of all the troubles you have been having in your life lately Brenda.   It's a good thing you are as strong as you are.  No wonder you don't have much time to chat here.  Family to look after and Mom in a nursing home, work.  I hope everything goes ok with you and your son.  He sure was wrong to put your whole family at risk like that.  I'm sure he'll learn a lesson though.  It's tough to be young and making major mistakes.  My 21 year old daughter seems to be the risk taker in my family.  She lives on her own but I still seem to have my share of worry over her at times.  My other daughter is getting married in November.  She is the steady one in the family.  We are going to Mexico for the wedding.   Should be nice....especially since now I can even wear a bathng suit.  It will be fun to shop for new clothes too.  Apparently there is a "cliff of courage"  where we are going so I am looking forward to jumping off of it.  I am off work this week...took a little vacation so I am going to go to Montreal for a few days.  I hope it's not too cold there.  It's not too bad here but Montreal is usually colder than here.  My weight has been holding relatively steady at about 145-148.  My goal was 150 so that's pretty good but I still have pretty bad eating habits at times so I live in constant fear of the regain.  I don't ever vomit and I rarely dump.  I seem to be able to eat quite a bit now....more than I ever thought I would be able to eat.  Kathleen, It's always nice to hear how you are doing. . By the way you sure don't look like an old Granny!  Let's try to keep in touch at least once in a while....It would be nice to hear how some of the other August losers are doing too.  Fran
