Topic: RE: Three weeks post-op...having frustrations..helpppp
Hello All! I had LAP RNY on the 13th and when I first arrived at home and started smelling everyone else's REAL food, I thought I was starving and going to die if I didn't eat REAL food soon! Or so I thought. Then I started to get in tune with my sense of pouch fullness. Now when the tummy (pouch) feels full, to a 'normal' person this is a sign of NOT being hungry. But to me (who is nowhere near 'normal'...hee hee hee) just the smell alone was making me 'think' I was hungry when in reality, I wasn't. My tummy was feeling full 24/7 actually! sheees! (hope someone is understanding this). Anyway...bottom line is...now I know the difference between thinking I'm hungry and actually being hungry. Because B4 learning about proper nutrition, I ate even when I thought I was hungry ...hence...lots of weight gain. Now, I'm not saying that's what you all are feeling, as yes, everyone is different and only YOU know YOUR body. But it's just feedback on MY experience with the difference of BEING HUNGRY FOR REAL or THINKING I'M HUNGRY. Also, on the protein tip...I, too, have a hard time getting 75 mgs in daily. But I have since tried UNJURY protein powder (unflavored, vanilla, chocolate) and my tummy seems to agree with it and the taste isn't bad. I try to put it in lots of things (puddings, jello, smoothies, etc) I mix it really well in my 'magic bullet' first. (Thank GOD for that magic bullet!) And to all you 'upcoming surgery' people...Hoping you all have an uneventful and safe surgery!!! See you all on the loser's bench soon! Bye for now! Brenda (BizzyB)

Topic: 2 days home from the hospital!!
I had the rny done on 8/22 - the doc said that everything went fine, no complications - Thursday they did the swallow test, again all is good.. Friday they pulled out all the tubes and hoses and let me go home! I read in Marianne's post that she's walking 1 mile a day - (or was it 2?) That's AWESOME! I'm not ready for that yet.. it still hurts to stand up, sit down, etc so I'm moving more slowly still. I'm having no problem w/my protein drinks - I"m drinking muscle milk light vanilla w/nonfat milk, taking a liquid multivitamin, so far everything is agreeing - although burping is a bit painful. I go back in 3 weeks for a follow up.. they told me until then, don't lift anything heavier than a phone receiver and don't sweat! I spent the first and 2nd day in the hospital wondering what I had done to myself and was all the pain worth it. (pretty rough couple of days) - however I woke up today feeling even better than i did yesterday, I thought i'd get on the scale just to see what's been going on.. i'm down 19 lbs! 19lbs in 4 days? i'll take it, i know it won't always be that way but it's a motivating beginning!

I am having the gastric-bypass on the 4th of Sept. I have been trying to have surgery since 2004. It is finally going to happen. I have alot of health issues. I have custody of my 20 month old grandson his my passed in Jan. I have to try to get better health so I can take care of him. I also am raising a 8 year old. God gave them to me for a reason so I need to be her for them. So i am going have this done and do my best to get my health improved. Thanks to a great Dr. Ross and staff they helped make it happen.
