Ok today I went for my 1st consultation with Dr. Barker in Dallas. I was so impressed with everyone there! I feel very comfortable getting this procedure done and they made me feel like I was a sure bet on going forward with RNY. Dr. Barker even mentioned something about it only taking about a month. This sounded too good to be true. When I spoke with the nice insurance guy he mentioned I would need a paper from my PCP showing my weight from 2002 or before. He really was hoping I would weigh 279 or more in 02..well my highest weight in 02 was 251. In JAN of 03 is 262 and that's the best I can get! I'm 17 lbs away from what he wanted to see. However now I weight much more than that. Does anyone know what this means for me?? Why 279! That seems extra high, my fiance thinks he was looking at the mens chart but I really doubt it. Thanks for your help!

Yes! I'm having RNY on 9/24, too! Is that what you're having? I'm new to the message board, too, although I've been reading posts for quite a while. Great information and support here! Good Luck to you!

Hey Dawn! 18 lbs is great for 2 weeks out! I've got to try those Light & Fit smoothies. I also eat egg & cheese omelets, protein drinks, etc, but I do know that I don't always get my 48 - 60 oz of fluid everyday I've been thinking that maybe that's why I'm at a stall already. I don't know. What I do know is....It's driving me crazy too but we just gotta hang in there and I'm sure this stall will pass really soon. (like NOW, right?) Hang in there dear..we'll catch up soon. LOTS of people have gone through this at 2-3 weeks out. One girls stall lasted 10 days. sheees! Hope that won't be us. But...keep the faith and don't get discouraged! At least we've made it this far. Some people don't get the chance for a new life like we have. We've been blessed. I predict our stall will be over TOMORROW! :0) Have a great day!! Bye for now Brenda (BizzyB)

I had surgery on 8/13. I've lost 18 pounds post op for a total of 34. I am eating soft food. My typical day - B - Light & Fit Smoothie Snack - cheese Lunch - chili - 4oz. or soft cooked shrimp or an egg with cheese omelet. 1/2 banana Dinner - Protein drink Drinking at least 48 - 60 oz. of fluid too. I also have stalled for 6 days. It is driving me crazy.

Michelle...O M G!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You are truly a Godsend! I've been on the puree stage for over a week now and I was really getting disgusted and craving something different than refried beans! Thanx so much for the recipes!! As a matter of fact, I'm going to print out your recipes and going to the grocery store today. My goodness, it'll be like having a new york strip (eating something different for once!) Again, thank you and have a great day!! I know I will! Bye for now Brenda (BizzyB)

Hello Katie! WoW! Out 2 weeks and a 40lb loss! That's awesome! I'm out 2 weeks and 3 days (LAP RNY on Aug 13th) and I've lost 14 lbs. The only problem is that the scale is the same for the last 6 days!! I can't believe I've come to a stall already! But...I'm keeping the faith and hoping it ends like REAL SOON! sheeees! Enuff already! Also, I have pain too sometimes in my side...more like the side of my tummy area. (rib area I guess). Mostly when I go to get up, but it only lasts for a few seconds. I also have back pain too but then I've always had that. If your pain gets to where it's realyy bugging you...I'd call the Dr and see if it's normal or not. Better safe then sorry, right? Have a great day and continue to have a great recovery too! Bye for now Brenda (BizzyB)

Topic: RE: Waiting on approval!!
Every insurance company is extremely different in what they require. I have Aetna and they have a strict criteria for covering bariatric surgery. I had to wait almost four months to go thru a strict pre-op regime of nutritional, mental and exercise counseling. I started my whole process on May 1, 2007. I went thru all my pre-op appointments They submitted to insurance around August 5th. I got my approval about a week later and had my surgery on Aug. 27th. I never thought it would go so smoothly for me. I had tried 3 years ago to get it done and I didn't have all the stuff insurance required. I gave up and I didn't follow thru. Be patient and be persisitent!
