Great idea Tammy! Thanks for starting this! Here's mine: Start 250 pre-op 226 (after pre-op dieting and bowel prep) Surgery date 8-14-07 Today's weight 220 lbs **NOTE** I gained 15 pounds of water weight in the hospital and it took me almost 2 weeks to lose that. Wondering how much, if any others gained that much water weight in the hospital?

Topic: RE: I AM HOME AND DOING FABULOUS!!!
Hey Kimberly! Sorry it's taken me SOOOO long to respond! I have been very bad about getting on the computer since I got home from the hospital. I've been feeling wonderful almost since then and honestly don't feel at all like I have any surgery at all no less major surgery! I've been walking a mile morning and night... exercising in the pool and last nite we went bowling and I bowled the best I have ever in my life. Eating is going pretty good too. I'm on mushies and have gotton some really good recipies from various people. Have found that mayo... even light mayo is no good for me. Also can't do scrambled eggs. Was bummed at that cuz I love them and know they are such a great source of excellent protein. Oh well.. I'll try them again some time soon. Mabye had taco sauce or low carb ketchup to moisten them. I think that may help a lot. So you're thinking of moving to the area???!! Oh boy I LOVE this area! It's not at all touresty. Growing like crazy fo a good investment. Still very quiet and not a lot of traffic even in snowbird season. There is so much beautiful nature here too. And Hudson beach is really nice. There are other much nicer beaches around the area too. I can't think of anywhere else in Florida I'd rather live. Come down and visit and I'll show you and your hubby around! Hugs, Marianne C.

Topic: RE: 2 weeks post opp
Hi, Tarawyn. I had RNY Aug 15 as well! I have lost a total of 51lbs. 30lbs I lost the 4 weeks before surgery that I was on a liquid diet, and then 21lbs I have lost since surgery. My typical daily meal is: Breakfast: 2tbs of cottage cheese, yogurt or similiar Lunch: 2tbs of soup or some kind of tuna/ham/chicken salad and wheat cracker Dinner: same as lunch with wheat cracker I just got the go ahead to start eating 3-4 tbs so I am excited about that. Woohoo 2 medicine cups instead of 1. I am not getting enough protein in right now either, I tried the GNC Whey Protein and it was just awful. Last night I ordered the matrix cookies n cream protein powder. I have heard tons of good reviews on it on several of the messageboards here.

Thank you everyone. Looks like we are all on the same track for the most part. I'll try and post this each Monday for us so we can be encouraged by each other. I know we all want it to fall off overnight, but keep in mind, this isn't an race to end in 30 days. None of us has probably lost 15 - 20 olbs in two weeks before. So trust me, we are all doing well. (maybe we are a little impatient cuz we want more!) Here's to us all being successful!!!

Thank God I am not the only one who feels this way!! I had my surgery on 8/15 and am also getting a little discouraged (total weight loss is 23lb). I'm getting tired of eating the same thing everyday and am having trouble with getting the right amount of protein and fluids. I weighed myself today and I haven't lost anything for the past couple of days. How can this even be possible??? So I know what you mean by not progressing as fast as it should be but if what others say is correct...things will get better. We just need to hang in there.

Topic: RE: swelling in the tummy
Hi Stephanie! I had surgery on August 2nd. I was told to expect my tummy to feel bloated or swollen for awhile after surgery. Mine started to subside towards the very end of week 2 or beginning of week 3. Most of it is the gas (carbon dioxide) that they blow your belly up with to make surgery much easier to perform. It takes awhile to dispell that gas. Congratulations on your surgery!! My prayers and thoughts are with you during your recovery and weight loss!! From one WLS sister to another--WAY TO GOOOO!!! Keep up the great work!! Much success to you!! God bless you!! Brenda

Topic: RE: 24 days post op/calcium issues
Hi Trish! You and I had surgery just days apart. I had mine on August 2nd. I have had issues with constipation also. I sent my husband to the store last Sunday to get some Milk of Magnesia for me because I realized I hadn't gone to the bathroom in 7 days. Man was I full of pooh! LOL. I felt sooooo much better after relief. My mom used to use colace and it never did much for her either. Would your doctor approve Milk of Magnesia? It tastes icky, but it's worth it for the relief it gives. Way to gooooo on your weight loss!! And it only gets better from here!! Hang in there with your incision pain, it does get better. My largest incision is only about an inch long, but it's still tender as well. My most tender one is the one on the left right under my breast. I'm so happy for you that you're weight loss is going so well!! Keep on keepin' on!! If you ever need someone to talk to, PLEASE feel free to call on me! I'll be your cheerleader and we can cheer each other on!! God bless!! Brenda

Pamela, 10 lbs in in 9 days is AWESOME!! I've lost 17 in four weeks, and would have liked to have lost a bit more, but I'm grateful that I've lost this much. Just hang in there...you're just starting! If you're anything like I've been, your toughest time is yet to come. My hard time started at about two weeks out and has lasted (still going through it) through week four. If you find yourself discouraged and wondering what you did to your body, send me a message and I'll give you ideas of things to try that worked for me. Keep up the GREAT work!! God bless!! Brenda
