Topic: RE: How much is everyone eating?
I am same surgery date..and eating like a horse compared to others. Yes I feel hunger now. I try drinking a glass of water and waiting 1/2 to make sure it is not head hunger or dehydration. I am concerned that I eat too much & that I feel hungry so soon. I was informed by my surgeon's office that some people never have a honeymoon period where tehy don't feel hungry.(looks like I am going to be one of those lucky souls). I am able to eat a small wendy's chili in one sitting. THIS GREATLY concerns me. However I have lost 22 lbs since surgery(8/14/07). The scale has moved in over two weeks...so I will focus on gtig mor fluids n 7 increase my dail walking. To me it is very scary & fustrating to sit through support meeting with people talking about never being able to get enough protein & never feeling hungry or get full very quick. I feel like some how I am fail the surgery by have hunger, and being able to eat a lot.

Hi Jen, Right now I eat: Eggs (scrambled, poached, egg salad and omelets) Chicken Fajitas (minus the tortillas) Chicken Curry Wendy's Chili Refried Beans and Cheese Grilled or Broiled Salmon Mashed potatoes High fiber cereal softened in milk High protein oatmeal with milk (Quaker weight control is low sugar and high protein) Meatless or Turkey meatballs from Trader Joes with Tomato Sauce and a dash of mozzarella (these are awesome and so much protein!) Low fat Cheese Sticks Lentils Hummus Sugar free popsicles I have taken a bite or two of things I should not but the above are my staples. I hear you though on hunger, this week, I feel like I am starving. Its also the monthly thing but still, it was tough to deal with mentally. Maya

That's so awesome to hear! I'm so glad that your surgery was uneventful and pain-free!! My surgery was the same. And I'm with you, it was God doing the surgery and he just used the hands of the surgeons to complete the job. I'm soooo glad to hear that you're losing and doing great! Keep up the great work and I'll be praying for all my fellow losers daily!! God bless you all! Brenda

Topic: RE: Hubby makes cute WLS joke
How funny!! LOL! Sounds like something my hubby would say! It sounds to me like we have a great bunch of hubbies! I wouldn't trade mine for the world! He tells me every morning that he's so proud of me and that he admires my courage. He's been my rock through the whole process. I believe he's as much a part of this process as the changes in habit. He keeps me focused and encouraged. When I get discouraged, he reminds me just where I started at and where I'm at now. And in the process with the complication I'm dealing with he keeps reminding me that this is only temporary, that this too shall pass, and when it does--JUST THINK WHERE YOU'LL BE! He's the greatest! God handpicked him for me, and I thank Him everyday! I really gotta finish bragging him up. LOL! -- On April 9th I quit smoking. I told him that I thought since I was taking steps to make myself healthier and totally changing my lifestyle for the purpose of being healthier, I thought he should quit smoking too, especially since he's 12 years older than I am. He said, "Ok, I will." I about fainted on the spot!! He's been a smoker since he was 17 or 18 and he's now 54. So he's smoked for 36 or 37 years. It was a tough decision for him but he agreed with me that if I was willing to go through surgery and a total lifestyle change, that he could meet me this far. We went to his doctor and talked to him about Chantix. The fairly new drug that's being used to stop smoking. It blocks the receptors in your brain that tell you you want a cigarette. Anyway, he got on Chantix and on June 7, 2007 my awesome hubby became a non-smoker!! He's still on the Chantix but it sure has made quitting much easier than any other method he's tried before. His committment to not smoking is as strong as mine to follow the lifestyle set forth by my surgery. I LOVE HIM SOOOOOO MUCH!! God bless you all!! Brenda

Topic: Found out what problem is
Hi everyone! I saw my surgeon yesterday and found out what my problem is in getting foods to go down. It has nothing to do with my pouch or anastimosis. What I have isn't common, so I thought I'd post about it in case anyone else ends up with the same symptoms. I'm having trouble getting any food to make it down to my pouch. I constantly feel like I have to burp after swallowing absolutely everything (even water!). I had an upper GI done yesterday and it shows that the opening of my pouch to the small intestine is draining just fine. However, I'm experiencing reflux since surgery. I've never had a problem with heartburn/reflux in the past so this was a total surprise. My doctor showed us on the pictures from the upper GI what the problem is. I have what's called Berett's (spelling?) ring. It's a ring that forms around the esophagus (sp? lol) and is causing it to be restricted. She has me on Reglan and Prilosec to get this healed so I can move on to eating like I should be. It's hard to enjoy eating (first time in my life I've EVER hated eating!) or even want to eat when something like this is going on. Anyway, got the diagnosis, got the probable fix, moving onnnnn----> I hope none of you out there suffers this, but if you do and you read this post, maybe it can help you. God bless all of you and may your journey(s) be uneventful and successful! Brenda

Hi Maya, I had my surgery on 8/13th. I eat less calories than you, about 500, but notice that I am hungry a lot. That does totally terrify me. I was put on the real food stage today and I am so excited. I ate chicken breast (not ground up) with a few cooked mushrooms and 2 green beans. It settled well with no problem. What are you eating? Just looking for some ideas. jen

Hi Guys, I am paranoid that I am eating too much as this early stage. I eat between 900-1100 calories a day and I had my surgery on Aug 14. I dont dump and can tolerate most foods slowly. I am still on the soft foods stage though its driving me nuts and hard to resist a few real bites of regular food. I am trying to be patient. Maya
