I had my surgery aug 15. I have lost a total of 40 pounds but.. didn't lose anything for the past 2 weeks. I actually gained like five pounds 2 weeks ago. Don't really know why. My trainer says its cause I'm not eating enough..But last night I got on the scale and got back to my lowest weight since gaining the 5.. I don't know if the scale will say that the weight is still off but..But it was nice to see 335 again instead of 339..

Topic: RE: Found out what problem is
Hi all! Well, I had the procedure done this past Friday (Sept 21) to dilate my esophagus and I can't put into words the relief I feel!! It's a procedure that takes about 30 minutes and is not a big deal. The only pain from it is a slight sore throat. A sore throat I can deal with, not being able to eat was something I couldn't deal with anymore. I say if any of you are suffering this problem TELL your doctor, not ask, that you want an upper GI done and that you want this procedure done. I don't know why they wait and let us suffer so long when it's unnecessary to do so. One hour after the procedure was finished I was sitting at a mexican restaurant eating with nooooooo pain or suffering! I ate food I was allowed, and it went down wonderfully! This procedure is known by two names, the easy one is endoscopy (end-aw-scopy) and the long one is esophogastrodeuodenoscopy (esopho-gastro-doo-aw-den-aw-scopy). It's where they go down your throat with a scope and a balloon and dilate the restricted area with the balloon. It brings such relief! If you're having the same problem I was having, PLEASE tell your doctor you want this procedure done--NO MORE SUFFERING!! God bless you all! P.S.(It also helped me get past my stall--I've started losing again!) Brenda

I am very proud of you Edna, good job, I am exactly where you are w/ the food, anything to avoid foamies I do, that is the worst feeling in the world, or if you eat too fast, ift feels like someone is stepping on your chest!!! I never imagined it would hurt some much, but I take deep breaths, and hit my chest and it usually passes...but darn it hurts, so I learn quick what to eat and what not to eat....but like I keep saying, "Nothing tastes better than thin" and to me, I still know I made the right decision in my RNY decision...it has been a blessing!!! For Myself, as well as my family...Keep up the good work!!!!

Hi! I know the feelings of frustration and disappointment for sure. However, my surgeon eased my fears by telling me that at 3-6 weeks out we are at the height of swelling and scar tissue. It has several effects on us. One of them is a stall in weight loss. Hang in there, it will improve!! And one way to look at it is, we didn't get heavy overnight, it took us years to get this heavy. If it takes us a full year or year and a half to lose all we want to lose, it's STILL much faster than if we were doing Weigh****chers or one of those diets. What other diet have any of us ever been on where we lose 10-20 lbs a month? Each pound down is a great feeling, think of it that way if you can. Each pound that we aren't carrying around on us is one pound less we have to lose. Hang in there and don't give up!! Once you get past your stall (and you will ) you will again be filled with encouragement. I'm at a stall now also. I'm 7 weeks out from surgery and have had troubles the past five weeks even getting any food down. I had a restricted esophagus until yesterday (Sept. 21st). I had a procedure done where they go down the throat with a scope and a balloon and dilate the esophagus. It was an easy (30 minute) procedure and it made ALL the difference. I've not lost any weight in the past almost two weeks. Now that I'm eating again, I will show weight loss again. If you're not eating right and the amount you should be in protein--you won't lose. Our bodies are already in somewhat of a starvation mode. If you don't eat what you're supposed to, it will become even worse. So eat lots of protein and like I said before--HANG IN THERE!! God bless you all!! Brenda

My NUT said dont do it but if you must on a special occasion, wait 6 mos. Its very hard, I would love a glass of wine (no more, just one glass) but will wait it out. Maya
