Topic: RE: Anyone Starting to Notice?
Well, my surgery was Aug 6th and have lost almost 60 pounds. I have hit a plateau. I'm at a weight I was at for a year before I had my daughter. I expect to be here for a little bit. My pants are way too big in the waist, but according to everyone I have a "nice, curvacious booty" now. I am still ahead of schedule. I can't eat a lot of what I was told to eat. It makes me sick. So I eat what stays down. Although through out the day I consume a total of about 200 calories. Sometimes 500 if I have bottomless pit syndrome. I eat about 7 bites at each meal. I have finally learned about how much to put on my plate. I had to buy new underwear a couple of weeks ago. In my pants my underwear would fall down around the pelvic bone. I have gone from a size 24W to a 16W or 18 misses. The pants all are a little baggy around the thighs and big in the waist, but accentuate my booty nicely. I lost weight in my legs and have a defined booty. I was excited about this.

I do great with the protein but struggle with the fluids. The highest I have gotten is 48 oz. I can only do what I can do.
Topic: RE: Monday October 1st weigh-in
Ok, I'm a little late, but here's mine:
Start weight: 389
Surgery day: 329
Today: 311
60 pre-op and 18 post op = 78 lbs.
My weight had actually gone UP for the last two weeks, but it is finally going back down. I know I am losing inches big time. Oh, surgery was 8/28/07. I think because I lost so much during my pre-op diet, it is going a little slow right now. My clothes are hanging off me so I am not getting concerned.
Thank you to everyone for sharing.

I am 9 weeks out and know exactly what you mean. At my last support group meeting they explained that you tastes change after the surgery. Something you loved before the surgery may taste horrible to you now, but in 2 months you may tolerate it again and somethings you never liked may become your favorite food. They also said you may eat something one day and be fine and the next day you may not be able to. No real reason was given, but they made it sound pretty normal. Chicken has always been rough for me because it is so stringy and you have to chew forever! I have only gotten sick once but had the feeling several times. My dietician told me to go by the 1-2-3 rule when trying new foods. #1-take a small bite and chew it well. #2-wait 10 minutes to see if it is going to be tolerated #3 take another bite and wait again. She also tells me to record food I can not tolerate so I can keep track and try them again later to see if anything has changed. Hope that helps.

I'm having problems getting ANY food down again
sighhhhhhh. I see my surgeon again this coming Tuesday for the second endoscopy (dilation of the esophagus) procedure. I had the first one three weeks ago and I did well for the first week or so, then started having troubles again. I hope it works permanently this time!
The things I can get down are yogurt, cottage cheese, and most foods on a good day. I don't have a good day too often lately.
I have a suggestion for vitamins. I take Optisource chewables. They are MUCH better than any of the other ones I've tried. They have a citrus flavor and are soooo much more tolerable than anything else for me. They dissolve quickly and they don't leave a nasty after taste. You can get them from this link:

I wish all of you the greatest journey to health and wellness!! God bless you!

I am taken in about 700 cal a day, but my protine(spelling) is way too low at 35-40g. I had myself up to 1000 cal and 80g protine but I did not loose any weight.
I use http://www.thedailyplate.com/ to track my diet every day... it is free and it has everything. at about 800 cal I should be loosing 4.5 # a week.
Topic: RE: Hello
Jennifer, Hey, I also live in Texas. I had my surgery in San Antonio. I Have lost 34 lbs since 8/22/07, and had lost 9 pounds pre-op. I have already had my share of stalls. Week 3 to week 5 I only lost one pound. Week 5, to week 6 I lost 5 lbs. I am so used to failing with weight loss that any "stall" moment in time is scary. I'm glad to see that we are not alone.
I didn't know there was an August message board until today.
Topic: RE: Monday October 1st weigh-in
Weight before surgery - 257
Date of surgery - 21 August
Weight today - 222
I did not have to lose weight prior to surgery. Due to my medical problems, I was approved right away. I have asthma and I have noticed that my asthma has improved greatly since the surgery.
One thing though - Has anyone noticed weight loss in their feet? I wore heels to work yesterday and they used to be tight...now they feel like flip-flops...my heal keeps coming out of the shoe when I walk.

Hi Jennifer!
I am twice your age and from Ohio. I understand the frustration with stalls. I certainly didn't expect to have one this early out (5 weeks) but the scales started going the wrong way after the second week. But, I'm doing what I am supposed to and the weight has no choice but to come off.
And to whoever it was that went to the main board to get us, THANKS!

Hi
I'm lucky if I get 700 in per day. My nuts goal is 1000 to 1200 per day. I just figure I'm doing the best I can. I have tried to consiously increase my calories. I had surgery on 8/28/07. I lost the initial IV fluid weight and then 18 lbs within the first 2 weeks. Since then, my weight has increased slightly (3 lbs). I know I am losing because of how my clothes are fitting. I guess my body is resting because I lost 60 lbs pre-op. I'm trying hard not to get discouraged.
You weight loss sounds really good to me. And you started out with a low BMI.
