Topic: Hi....I'm new to this board
I just found this board today.....I've been active on the Minnesota board but I wasn't aware there was a surgery date board. I've read some of the posts and I'm excited that I found a board where most of us are experiencing the same things. I'm really happy with my progress and I haven't had a problem yet. I've never vomitted or had the foamies, I did get a little nauseated once when I ate an Atkins protein bar and I don't eat those now. I am going to try one of the Smart For Me bars, my dietician recommended those to me. I had surgery on 8/13/07, I lost 22 pounds pre-surgery and I've lost 35 pounds post-surgery for a total of 57 pounds gone forever!! I haven't really noticed a stall yet and I weigh myself twice a week....I also work out 5-6 times a week doing cardio and weight training. I meet my minimum of 60 gms of protein a day and usually more....I have a protein shake each morning that adds 28 gms. of protein, without that I wouldn't reach my goal. I'm so glad I found this board!!

Hi Jennifer,
Can you tell me about your weight loss? I just know my lousy eating is keeping me from losing more! I feel like I am wasting this "honeymoon" 6 months...I am so worried I will never lose all my weight!

Topic: RE: Eating Out
I went out to eat last Saturday for the first time, to celebrate my birthday. I ordered a chef's salad with dressing on the side. I portioned what I was going to eat - what looks like about 2 oz of turkey, some cheese, 1/2 hard boiled egg, slice of tomato and some lettuce, and then dipped each forkful into the dressing. I was SO full quickly, which was a very different feeling than I was used to when I used to eat out.

Hi There,
I have been very lucky so far - nothing has really disagreed with me. Chicken, eggs and ground beef go down and stay down. I have not ventured to try steak/pork yet. In the last few weeks I have started to eat much more "normally"
Today I had:
Homemade SF Latte with 1 Cup Skim Plus Milk
1/2 Tortilla Pizza (mission low carb fajita size tortilla, 2 T Ragu Pizza Quick, 1/4 C shredded Mozzarella, 1 Trader Joe's Turkey Meatball)
AchievOne Mocha Java Protein drink (20 g protein)
1/3 Chicken Bol from Chipotle - Beans, chicken, onions/peppers, lettuce, salsa, cheese and sour cream
another home-made latte in the evening
1/2 apple and 1 T peanut butter.
My nutritionist suggested getting 800 calories at this point, and I hit about 700-800 each day. I am getting much better lately about getting all of my protein in. Today I got over 80 grams which was a new record for me!
I have had 1/2 of a lunchables meal, but lots of carbs with the crackers, and lots of fat, too. Good in a pinch, I guess. I also have been able to eat a whole grain lean pocket - which have 20 g of protein. That is the only bread I have had...and the occasional low carb tortilla.

Topic: RE: migraines anyone?
It seems that when I get up in the morning I am okay, but after I eat food I start getting a headache. The other day my head started to really hurt and I came home and laid down. I've started to pay attention to this because I'm starting to say to my family that I'm getting another headache today. Seems funny. I hope they stop. I eat different foods everyday. Will just have to wait and see. Hope yours stop.

I am eating all wrong and the sad thing is I know it!! I have tried sooooo many protein drinks and I can't stand them I am waiting for a new one I just ordered so we shall see. For breakfast I am eating Dannon Light & Fit.. for lunch I am eating one package of Kraft Handi-Snacks..the cheese and crackers..for dinner I try to have some tuna or chicken salad..nothing taste good to me.
I am getting in my water and taking my vitamins..but I have got to get more protein in. Right now I am consuming about 400 to 500 calories a day IF I eat something for dinner and not another Handi-Snacks!

Hi Edna!
You're not doing anything wrong, you're doing GREAT!! I think as a group of losers we're ALL doing great. We all need to remember that our bodies are dropping weight rather quickly (I was told I'd lose 10-15 lbs/month for the first six months--give or take) and they hit a point at which the body says..."heyyyy wait a doggone minute! You're starving me compared to what you used to feed me!! I can't continue to drop this much this fast...PHEW...gonna take a break for a bit!" And it's ok to let our bodies do just that. Come on now, we didn't gain all this weight overnight, we aren't gonna lose it all overnight either, right? I think 46 lbs is GREAT!! Just hang in there and don't let yourself be discouraged! I think as WLS patients we all tended to think we'd lose ungodly amounts of weight in a short period of time. It's just not so. Try thinking of it this way-- what OTHER diet have any of us ever been on that we've lost close 15-20 lbs per month? Weigh****chers, Jenny Craig, Nutrisystem, Diet Center, etc NEVER provided me with that big of a loss every month even when I stuck to it religiously. Realistically, our bodies can only lose weight so fast before it becomes unhealthy. And one of the HUGE reasons we all did this was to become and remain more healthy, right? So, look on the bright side, we're all weighing a WHOLE LOT LESS than we did when we started this journey! HOORAY FOR US!! We're all a bunch of losers--and we love it, right?
I hope this helps to make you guys all feel better about the weight that you have lost, and to remind you that your body can only take so much and then it needs a break. One other thing to remember is, that generally when you're in a stall--weight doesn't come back on--it stays off...it just takes a bit for the losing to start again
God bless you all!!

OK, CAN YOU SHARE WHAT YOU EAT DAILY . I'M TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT I'M DOING WRONG, ***I WANT TO BE A BIGGER LOSSER!!***
IN THE MORNING I START OF WITH A PROTEIN DRINK ABOUT 5:30 AM
THEN I HAVE CREAM OR WHEAT OR COTTAGE CHEESE AND PECHES, ABOUT 1/4- 1/3 CUP.
FOR LUNCH SMALL AMOUNT OF CRAB SALAD, OR TUNA AND 2 CRACKERS.
FOR DINNER SMALL AMOUNT OF FISH, MAYBE VEGGYS, OR SOUP, ABOUT 1/4 - 1/3 CUP.
ITS HARD BECAUSE NOTHING SOUNDS GOOD!! I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MEAT
I HAVE TO CHEW AND SPIT, BECAUSE IT DOSENT GEEM TO GO DOWN, SOMETIMES I CAN EAT A SMALL PIECE OF CHICKEN.
-----------------SO WHAT ARE YOU EATTING???-----------------------------
