Yesterday, I had a body composition test done. Based on my frame and weight of my bones and body fat %, it said that I needed to lose another 38 pounds of fat and gain 4.4 lbs. of muscle. Ugh. I also found out that my BMR (basal metabolic rate) is lower than I thought....so that explains why eating 1200-1400 calories has kept me at a standstill.
So, I am starting today on a renewed effort. I am really sticking to the basics, reducing the carbs and upping the protein, reducing the calories! And though I've been running 3 miles about 3 times a week, I am going to work on adding in more exercise.
Wish me luck. I'd really like to get to goal by Christmas and start working at exchanging body fat for muscle!
Hi Fran, Kathleen and all newbies, oldies (not age-wise!! lol)--
It's been a pretty good week so far...but then...it's only Monday!! LOL.
I'm weighing 140 right now--130s here I come!!
I'm glad to hear that you had a fantastic week off last week, Fran--YOU DESERVE IT! I know what you mean about being able to do more without feeling like death is calling! It feels great to feel like doing things I've never wanted to do before, doesn't it? Keep up the GREAT work, lovely lady--YOU'RE AWESOME!!
Howdy Kath! I can't imagine being sore and swollen for up to a year...yikes!! But, it's still got to be better than packing around the extra skin, right? You'll do great and just look how BEAUTIFUL you are!! Congrats on your new job!! How do you like it so far? Are you enjoying being out of the house?
You BOTH inspire me daily--that will never change. Whenever I get to feeling down or blue, I think of you two and it makes my day :) You both know how to keep the spirits up and the motivation towards success fresh! I love you both!!
School is a challenge and at this point I've got a B in two of my classes. I'm about to PANIC. I don't do B's!! I'll pull them up to straight A's ..just gonna take some extra hard work. Hard work never killed anyone and I'm not about to be the first LOL.
Take care and you guys have a GREAT week!!
Love ya bunches!!
Bren
It was nice to hear from everyone last week. Even a couple of new posters! I was off work all last week and had a great week off. Beautiful weather....actually went to the gym most days. Lots of shopping and relaxation. I had my three grandsons stay with me on Saturday night and I had forgotten how busy three little ones can be! It was lots of fun though. I can even chase after them a little now. I found it too difficult and exhausting before surgery. I also went to my second gastric bypass support group meeting and it looks like it's going to be quite interesting.
Here goes for the stats...
Highest weight: 310
Surgery weight: 290
Present weight: 149.5 (goal)
This is up 1 1/2 lbs from last week but I've been up and down a couple of lbs for the last couple of weeks. I'll be happy if I continue to maintain at this level.
Hope everyone has a great week.
Hugs Fran

I am alive, lol. Just busy like Brenda with school and work, and add to that kids!!!
I had lots going on this week. Still holding at 160 to 165. Had all my bloodwork done but haven't gone for check up (which I really need to do) Bloodwork came back really good, with Cholesterol at 132 and Bad and good levels all right on target. I am unlike most posters here in that I am NOT at goal, even still considered overweight by most charts - I am 5' 6" and 160 to 165 lbs. I would love to lose another 40 lbs but it doesn't seem to be in the cards. At my highest weight I was over 230 lbs. I am not unhappy, how could I be? But I am a little disappointed in my personal losses as compared to many others. The women on here are all so svelte and pretty. I still have tons of skin and fat to go. NOT to have a pity party though - I am pretty happy. I am thinner now than since I was in high school, and so much healthier. And I eat pretty much what I want - the difference now is I actually THINK BEFORE I EAT, AND DURING AND AFTER EVEN....LOL. I really try to eat within the guidlines for good health. Has anyone ever seem the site : mypyramid.gov It is really really helpful to me.
Also, I am still on the line about whether to spend the $12,000 to get my tummy/arms fixed. Here is the dilemma; I have to have fallen uterus and bladder fixed, soon!!! If I do plastics with it the hospital will be covered, but... I'd have to borrow the 12 grand, in this stinking economy..... If I dont do it I will never have hosp fees covered. What would you all do???????
I just wanted to say that those babies are the cutest ever!!! Congrats to you sweetie!!! I am more jealous of those beautiful babies than a tight tummy!!!!
Please keep all the helpful comments coming, and the accountability, it DOES help me tons. Just to know someone out there cares is nice!!!!
Please take care all, And Kathleen - way to go on getting a job, I'll bet you will be so glad you did!!!
Tara

Brenda explained the board well. I hope you continue to post. Like Brenda and you I am having trouble with my old habits as well. I have more trouble after work and on days off though. I always bring food to work....more than just lunch because I work 12 hour shifts and I try to write down everything I eat (even when I don't want to). I find on work days these things help but I need help on my off days. I start off the day with good intentions and tend to slip by the end of the day. So far I know I am mostly within my calorie limits so if I have had a really bad day I try to make it up the next day. I guess I'm just hoping I can keep up these changes for life and not fall back in to all the bad habits. I like the weekly weigh in because it keeps me accountable and I hopefully will be able to stop any gains before they go too far. I know I need help from you Brenda Kathleen Tara and all the others who post on this board.
This week I'm going to concentrate on getting in more vegetables. I'm not going to worry about my other calories because vegetables will add almost nothing. I'll see if that helps.
Lisa, How much weight have you lost? Are you at goal or close to it?
Brenda, Always glad to hear from you. I'm glad you are still doing so well. Don't work too hard! I agree with you we always need to ask for help if we need it. The sooner we ask the sooner we might be able to fix things.
Keep in touch
Fran
