Hi guys, I keep forgetting about this board. Also, I sometimes get really frustrated because when I come here or on the RNY board I see how so many people are already at or near goal and I'm only halfway. When you start out as large as I did the rules are little different and the process takes more time. Anyway, I am posting today to celebrate - I'm now at where most of you started I reached 299 the other day - first time under 300 in about 12 years. High school. I will never see a 3 in front of my weight again! So here's my weigh-in since I missed Monday - Starting - 440 Surgery - 405 Current - 299 Total lost 141 lbs so far. Its slowing down, gotta keep on truckin. I feel really good though (finally) and am suddenly really loving exercise. I look forward to the gym every day. I NEVER thought I would say that. I've gained a bit of muscle and the inches are falling off like mad right now, but the weight isn't moving much. Hopefully I'll be in the mid 250s or lower by a year out. 200lbs lost by a year out would be fantastic, but we'll see. I've learned not to get my hopes up real high on the weight loss goals. I hope to see 1s in front of my weight by 18months out, but again, thats just a thought. I'll be happy as long as I don't gain anything! Hope everyone is well, taking their vitamins, eating their protein, and exercising!

Hello Jen, I'm still here and still a looooong way from my goal......so far in fact, I haven't yet decided what my goal is. The 60% excess weight loss that falls under "successful" is just a few pounds away but I would be very disappointed if I don't lose more than that. I know what you mean about frustration, sometimes I read blogs about people who had 100 pounds or even less to lose and I honestly feel a bit irritated but, more likely, it is jealousy I am feeling because they recognized what they needed to do sooner than I did. I do believe it has to be harder for those of us with a much longer road ahead.....I expected to lose faster than someone with much less weight to start with but that has not been the case. You have done very, very well with your weight loss and exercise. Congratulations on making it below 300. You are a strong woman going places! I have admired you ever since you began posting on the boards.

Yeah if we go with 60% I'm just about there too, which is nice, but definitely not where I want to stay. I agree, for me there is a tinge of jealousy mixed with my frustration - mainly because I thought about surgery for years before I decided. If only I'd had it at 340 instead of 400, you know? I am happy for everyone of course, its just an emotional thing. You are doing fantastic and thank you for your comments

You are absolutely beautiful! I love your new picture. You hang in there. I am not at goal yet either. Still have a ways to go, but we will get there.....

We all ROCK! Frustration is a part of the journey, but not a roadblock. I believe our group (August losers) is the greatest in the world! I'm just a tad biased though, LOL. I have every confidence in all of us in reaching our goals! We just need to keep supporting each other and NEVER let that support slide. It gets easier and easier as we get farther and farther out from surgery to stop posting or even stop reading posts altogether. Let's stay focused on helping each other through rough times and celebrating our successes together and never quit talking to each other, deal? I find it such a relief to know I can come here and talk about anything that is bothering me and know you'll all be supportive. Family is wonderful, but they haven't BEEN here. They can't possibly understand some of the things we are feeling and going through because they've not experienced what we have. God bless them for trying and helping us, but it's you guys that most often make the difference in my day when it comes to our gastric bypass life. I thank you ALL for being here and keeping me on track! I love you all sooooo much! Bren

Jennifer, you are beautiful and that is a fantastic milestone!!! My surgeon refuses to set a "goal" because he said he does the surgery for peoples' health not for a scale. I expect to keep losing, but honestly if I never lost another pound, I am successul! I can go grocery shopping, I can walk my dog, I can sit in a booth, I can work in my yard and dang it I can wipe my own butt without an assistive device! My blood sugar is perfect, my cholesterol is perfect (first time in recorded history). And my whole outlook on life has improved. I was not someone who thought that WLS was the answer to all my problems. I loved my life and have been tremendously surprised that I have found myself happier, more friendly, and with lots more energy. This is all a process of getting healthier and maintaining that health and you are doing a fantastc job at it. (I cannot imagine getting to a gym! lol) Keep doing what you need and want to day by day. This is a process not a destination.
