The stalling process:(

I seem to be reading the same from almost everyone on this page about the stalling. I have been pretty much the same weight since December and let me just tell you that it is very frustrating. I am going to try the 5 day thing and see if I can get that to start something up for me. I think my problem is truly that I maybe don't eat enough. I work very odd hours (10pm-6am) and find myself maybe snacking throughout the nite rather than "eating a meal". I also am very much aware that I don't get in enough H2O in my daily routine. I have just made a goal with a friend of mine that we were gonna start getting in 64oz of H2O a day and see if that will jumpstart something. I know I havn't really said anything in this post that hasn't already been said in other posts but you all must know that it is 313am and I am sitting at work trying with all that I am to just stay awake and by typing you my issues, I am thinking it is helping. Good luck to all that are in the same boat as me with this darn stall. Lets work our way through this together. Day of surg. weight 237 todays weight 161 mini goal 155 long term goal 140 Total lost to date 76pds.

Yea the stalling thing SUCKS. i too work very ****y hours...{well with 3jobs an all its hard to have "good" hours haha}.....i am actually going to do the 5day pouch test with my coworker....we are starting tomorrow as a matter of fact cus we both work the 7am-10pm shift....so we have each other for motivation. Water is a major issue though, i mean i havnt really been a good tracker of anything {as in food or water} but im thinking that atleast if i have a whole med ice coffee and c few bottles of water throughout the day im fine.... its hard though i know. i wouldnt worry too much, you just need to get urself back into a routine keep up the good work!!

Hi! You know, the closer you get to goal your weight loss will slow wayyyyyy down. I started at 278 in August, and now I am at 153. I have had a couple of stalls, but I just try to go back on the 60 gr. protein, with water water water, and I can start losing again. My Dr. goal is 145, my goal is 132 (after skin removal I will be around 115-120). I think alot of it has to do with WHAT you eat. Starches, processed foods, all of those things seem to keep me from losing. If I stick to a protein shake for breakfast, then a salad for lunch, protein shake for snack, and protein shake for dinner, I can get it going again. I work out every morning and walk about 3-5 miles daily on my treadmill too. It is an effort, but I will be damned I am going to go through all this and get fat again lol. I tell you, sometimes it is really rough. You are doing great with your weight loss though. We will all get there, one day at a time!

Know what you all mean by dealing with stalls......I lost and gained the same two pounds for a whole month. Finally figured out I was eating TOO FAST, bought myself a timer and set it for 30 min. at each meal....now I eat, wait, eat, chew, chew, and chew....when the 30 minutes are up I am done and don't have the feeling that I need to eat more. It's working as I am down almost three pounds in a week and a half. This journey demands our full attention to details.....stick to it, it's gonna' work. Pat

Hi Kris! Welcome to the world of posting! I'm glad you came out of the posting hide-away to join us! I think at our stage in the journey we are slowing down tremendously with the weight loss. At least some of us seem to be. But don't panic! It's not over. I jump started my weight loss again by doing the 5 day pouch test. Here is the link...it worked for me! It makes us aware again of the tool we were given for our weight loss and how to use it. God bless! Let me know how you do if you try this ok? Thanks to Tammy C (poster and fellow August surgery recipient) I tried this pouch test and it sure helped! http://www.5daypouchtest.com/

I posted earlier this month regarding the 2 pound on and 2 pounds off that I was also experiencing and seemed to feel that I had stalled. Thankfully, after a month of going nowhere, it seems to have finally corrected itself. This week I lost 4.5 pounds. I had to get on the scales twice before I would believe it. It is scary and frustrating but my nutritionist told me she thought it was because I had increased my exercise (on my doctor's recommendation) and was not getting enough protein and water to sustain the increased exercise. She bumped up my protein by adding a snack of high protein and told me to drink, drink, drink and keep up the exercising. Hang in there. I was pretty worried and seeing that others had the same problems really did make me realize that I was not alone in this process and how lucky we all are that there are others that have gone before us. I can't imaging how alone the first ones who went through all this felt but I am grateful that we can benefit from their experiences and sharing ours. Best wishes.

My dietician said that the most succeful people with this surgery learned to eat every two hours, just a little bit, and stay on that schedule to maintain their weight and weight loss. My suggestion with the odd hours is to take the little peanut butter take with from Jiff to eat every two hours and Atkins power bars. It is important to have high protein and low sugar. I had a friend mention a drink with 40 grams of protein at GNC, I am going to go look for it. I know that when I increase my protein, up my exercise and increase my water that I begin to lose again. It is a pain in the butt when you work werid hours. My only suggestion is to make your own routine so that you stay in control and that you don't allow yourself to fall back on snacking. It was reading on the Five Day pouch test about the junk calories from things like pretzels which go right back to fat for us after an RNY. Our bodies take those quick calaries and store them up quick when we eat them becaues it is easily processed and store in our bodies. I haven't eaten any kind of quick carb food since I read that post. Read the FiveDayPouchtest.com google it if you can't find the site, it is listed all over. Good luck with the odd hours and the weight loss. being down to 161lbs is pretty dam good. Give yourself a pat on the back for coming so far. Later Sami Sue
